My CD BOOK

heh, if you're bored you can try making a CD Book, like I'm
doing at the moment.

Just get like one of those A4 clear plastic sleeve files and
compile a CD Book of all the CDs you own. Like create a
cover page that says all the artists that will be in it, and
in brackets, how many releases you have of the artist.

Then create an intro page for the first artist (mine is AFX)
and just briefly describe it, and say what albums it has,
with a picture and year of release. Add a page for each
album complete with album artwork, tracklisting and review
by you or someone else, and....

You're *gasp* an organised (and creative) music listener!
You'll be surprised how much you can get out of it...

Keep it next to your CDs and look at it when you're
listening to tunes. If someone asks what sort of music you
listen to, don't worry about lamely explaining IDM (sigh) to
them...Just hand them your CD Book!

haha great man,
i'd love to see that thing :)

can't be arsed myself though, it was quite an accomplishment
for me to type all my cd titles in a word document

Nice idea but if you have several thousand records you would
spend the rest of your youthful days making the thing...

Yes...

Luckily, I don't have that many yet! (Still, quite a few
though), and when I've finished the ones I have now, every
time I get a new CD, I just add a new page to it.

Still, I'm an obsessed weirdo, these sorts of things I do
all the time!

A couple of years ago I did this sort of thing all the time.
I'm too busy now, I hardly have time to fit in all the
"important" stuff I have to do :/

I was planning on doing something similar. I'm gonna get me
a DVD burner and the first thing I was going to do was to
make an IDM DVD for a friend in order to introduce him to
the wonders of afx,ae, and friends (He only listens to
shitty Ministry of sound Dance Compilations). I was going to
do it all in Flash with the browser autorunning a start page
and then have a full set of mp3s per artist with data sheets
etc.. unfortunately exams and my dissertation have gotten in
the way so it'll have to wait a bit.

is this electronic or in a physical book?
if it's electronic could you please email some example bits
like the afx intro page and the SAW1 page? I'd be most
interested in seeing how you're doing this. MailME!

Well, it's in a physical book, Tonyfish, but I've got the
first few things from my website I've started building

(like, they're copied and pasted)

Intro page (edited slightly for book purposes and
sizability on my part)

SAWI page

I see. I was thinking of doing something with an XML
database so that I can add any new material easily. I'll let
you know if I ever get round to doing it!
