If you've read my past posts you know that I am dead set
against "SAW II". Well, over the past couple of days I've
had to write a 5 page report in English, the topic is
"Someone who has influenced history or society". I chose
Hunter S. Thompson.

Let me get to the point here... I wanted some music to
listen to while working, so I chose "SAW II". I have a new
respect for it. It's a beautiful album. I used to hate it
for the lack of beats, but now I realize that it is better
with out beats.

My problem with "SAW II" is that I kept trying to just sit
down and listen to it. I just needed it as background music
to appriciate it.

check the [shiny metal rods] track.. it's like 3rd or 4th on
the second disc.. it has a nice flowing tribal type beat

i always listen as background before a real listen, so i
like it subconsiously before consiously

grass has a nice tribal beat that you have to strive to find
it...
shiny metal rods is nice,
window sill is better. hexagon is the best.

Now you've actually opened your ears to it, sit down, have a
smoke and really listen. All will become clear.

It took me ages to really get into it, I thought it was okay
from the outset, but it requires many listens to really
develop.

That was Brian Eno's intention for his ambient music: making
background music

window sill is my favorite I think

lichen is getting sadder/more beautiful with each listen

of course, there's rhubarb.. which is probably the strongest
ambient excursion of the album and his career.. I think I'd
put quino-phec in the top 5 of that album.. heh.. of course
if it was actually ON that album ;)

I'd be saying the same about white blur 2 and stone in focus
if they weren't 2 times longer than they should be

You're saying that as if the baldy cunt actually invented
it.

Erik Satie invented "background music", or "furniture" music
as he called it...

I have the cd.. I wanted a version w/ stone in focus.. but
then again it's really not worth it.. and not all versions
of the vinyl relase have that track so forget about that.

what about that other track left off? hankie? I've only
heard about the first 15 seconds of it.. is that any good?
why were these two left off?

yeah sawII is wicked, the cover art is wicked aswell i think
(i like sunsets on walls)

"Erik Satie invented "background music", or "furniture"
music
as he called it... "

he also said he wanted to make music which people could
listen to whilst eating dinner, which i think is slightly
less wicked cos it might well make him the 'grandfather of
muzak'

Brian Enos not bald is he? on all the pictures ive seen of
him (which are probably old) he has a big fuck off weird
coloured mullet.
