I dont think so.....Smojphace is gonna be another Drum N
Bass record, but drum n' Bass has been dead since
1995....AFX has become another face in the crowd, he isnt
the leading artist of the IDM genre anymore...yeah...uh...I
think its time for another windowlicker...

I haven't heard smojphace so I couldn't comment. My fingers
are crossed though.

I think he still has it, maybe he needed some time off.

dude Richard has always dished out progressive work, keeps
getting only more talented... anyone hear the AFX remix on
26 mixes? I'm expecting stuff like that on Smojphace and I
can't wait!

5, actually. it was recorded for a rephlex compilation of
808 state remixes which was cancelled. hence the "shady"
unlabeled and probably uncleared tracks on 2 remixes. dunno
if he paid 808 state for 26 mixes for cash; i'd think so,
considering the writing credit and the larger audience.

anyway, i agree to an extent with this topic.. the music
richard's been releasing hasn't been too different from
other artists. drukqs' techno tracks have influences of
squarepusher, bogdan, and of course the classic acid era. on
the other hand, another part of the problem is everyone in
"idm" is so influenced by aphex now that it's harder for him
to stand out like he did in the mid '90s. it doesn't help
that he refuses to do any more ambient music. SAW2 is an
album that i don't think can ever be matched in style.

in all, RDJ doesn't seem interested in being unique (thus a
"star") right now. i think he's enjoying playing around with
other styles instead of trying hard to create a new one.
good for him, he deserves a break.

So are DrukQs...

I really long to hear some of the "more complex and advanced
piano stuff" Richard promised to release

so what if he isn't as groundbreaking anymore... if the
music is good, ain't that the important thing?

1) 26 mixes for cash - most of the songs are old

2) 2 remixes - i think these are like 2 years old aswell

3) drukqs sounded a lot like afx trying to be pusher to
me......

I have high hopes for smojphace though, except the title,
eugh

i dont think the music he is releasing is as
'groundbreaking' as it used to be, but that is inevitable.
the music he releases is wonderful and many people enjoy it,
and he enjoys making it. why does everyone have to analyse
everything he does?

Just so you know Smojphace has been put back again to
05.26.2003. Let the verbal fighting commence for even
longer.
