This morning while waiting for my coffee to finish brewing,
I was going thru a cd holder and came across DJ Shadows 2nd
release...And I decided to give it a listen again...
Now I know its NO Entroducing...but I am really
groovin...Tracks like Fixed Income, Giving Up The Ghost, Six
Days, Meets His Maker etc....These are prime DJ Shadow...I
would recommend to anyone who hasnt listened to this album
in awhile to stroll down memory lane with me...I would hate
to see this album forgotten among others...=)
Cheers!!

....

I hardly listen to this album but it is fantastic, broader
than any other instrumental hip-hop I've heard. I can,
however, relate to the haters of this album. Many people
were expecting something more strictly hip-hop, as was I,
and what we got was sort of disappointing in the way it
didn't have a Building Steam With a Grain of Salt, it didn't
have a Midnight In a Perfect World or whatever.. it doesn't
really have anything with that kind of energy to me (except
maybe 'You Can't Go Home Again'). If he gets his act
together a little, we could have another flawless classic
right round the corner.

I still like it a lot... and personally, it IS better then
endtroducing... but maybe that's just me... probably is...

hehe, well endtroducing just seems a bit, I don't know,
lacking to me... whereas The Private Press has phat beats
man, PHAT BEATS!! And killer production... I mean, You Can't
Go Home Again is like one of the best sample based songs
I've heard... I don't know, it just sounds better to my
ears... although Endtroducing is real good!! :)

I thought private press was better than endtroducing
personally, it's a shame that 'right thing' and
'Monosylabik' made the cut, these two tracks are purely
shite IMO and taint an otherwise awesome album...

I can't believe what I'm hearing...

You're both WRONG WRONG WRONG.

How is Endtroducing..... 'lacking'? It has the whole package
baby. Absolute quality end to end. The Private Press IS good
don't get me wrong, but there are so many uncertain moments
spread across the album it just puts me off sometimes.

best album

Shocking ain't it!?

It wasn't just a recent thing neither, i've been monitoring
your opinions for months, it's always seemed that our tastes
have overlapped.

Still, at least we both STILL do love DJ Shadow :)

i listened to it earlier this week
or later last week
or something

i never used to like it that much. like i thought it had
some quality tracks, but was generally quite wack.
but when i checked it out not too long ago i was pleasantly
surprised. i found myself thouroughly enjoying all the
tracks.
it might have been the drugs, but i doubt it. this was good
stuff.
i think i'll listen to it again soon.

still comes no where near endtroducing though ;)

the private repress is like an album of remixes of the
private press

must be great, but so far it will be only in japan

the only japan relases get to australia as well (singles
collection 51/13 is an example)

I apreciate your interest... but I guess I couldnt afford
the shipping costs right now... maybe in some months I ll
ask you to do that

great album... haven't listened to it in a while, but I have
it here with me in school and I plan on listening to it now
in a few minutes when I go get something to eat... I think
this album is better then Endtroducing because: 1. It sounds
a lot cleaner, and the production is better... 2. The beats
are phatter... and it's all about the phat beats yo!! 3. It
has more variety... all the tracks are pretty different, and
cover a lot of styles... plus, there is a real 80's feel to
it, which I just love!

I've managed to hear a bit of "The Private Press" but
nothing seemes to stick like "changeling**transmission1" or
"midnight in a perfect world" from endtroducing... that
stuff is just timeless I tell ya!

maybe if I listened to it a bit more it might grow on me?
