HOW do I put a search feature into a site? Any help or
pointers in the right direction much appreciated!

simply include google's search into your website. it's the
easyest and cheapest way... check out www.google.com

yeah but what if he wants a feature to search within his
site and not in the entire internet?

hmmm but will that search the site itself and just that? I
need one where you can search for a word within the site.

goto cgi.resourceindex.com search from there. they have
lots of scripts which you can use, that is if your server
lets you run cgi (and you can upload ftp as ascii and chmod
remote files..hmm tricky ;) rtfm if in doubt)

I don't how you create the site (what software) but I can
remember MS Frontpage having a feature to create a serach
field.

sorry i dunno. i do all my html/cgi coding by hand. i use
html kit only (a glorified handy html text editor). ive
decided that you can get the site you want, without all the
crap by doing it by hand, plus its good to say you know html
on a CV, cos most management think you can program ANY
computer or something, god theyre stupid, but im off topic,
so ill shut up now.

no problem. you can limit the search to your site by
including the adress of your site in the form-tag..

I wish I knew more HTML but I find it very hard to work like
that, I pretty much have to have all my elements on the page
and move then around by eye. I'm gonna have to learn it some
time!

and cheers .a

you can do a search like this on google and it'll only
search the site you specify:
"aphex site:xltronic.com"

you can pass a search to google in a URL like this:
.com"

and, as was mentioned above google will allow you to add
their search engine to your site for free... it's not
perfect but, it is free. learn more here

then there is atomz.com, but, they are REALLY big
bucks.
