well ive decided to share with you all my ghostly encounter,a day i will never forget.

The year was 1994 and i was 16 years old.
Me and and my life long friend christian were at his house in corby northamptonshire on a late summer evening, his mums house was quite big and backed onto the kingswood woods and we had recived a phone call from our friend gordon
asking us if we wanted to both go to his house to play computor games. There were 3 ways to get to gordons house 2 long routes and a quicker route through kingswood woods so we decided to go the woods way.
We went out of his back garden gate and into woods,it was still nice and warm as it had been a hot day and we were messing about as 16 year olds do walking and laughing together .
We were about a quater way into the woods still messing and larking about when we both looked at the same time at a pile of chopped tree trunks
at the side of the narrow path and sitting on the tree trunks were two figuers both male about 18 years old they were all white and had a white aura that went around the both of them, they just looked at me and chris who were still walking at normal pace,i looked for about 4 second and then looked at the ground,i didnt know what to do! i walked a few more steps not looking up again because i was shitting it and then burst into a full sprint, fuck ive never run so fast in my life!and we didnt stop untill we got out of the woods, we didnt speak, just ran.
when we got out of the woods and onto the main road, we stopped, i was feeling sick because i was running so fast and couldnt get my breath back. we never went to gordons house we just sat at the side of the road recovering ,when i asked chris what he saw he said everything as i had seen it which confermed that i wasnt seeing things or had imagined it, he was shit scared aswell. when we had recoverd we both walked the long way back to our own homes.
we never told anyone about it for a long time, we didnt even talk about it to each other for a long time after that day. Recently i

I love ghost stories, gives me shivers. I saw a human shaped ball of mist when I was walking in the graveyard on the hill behind my house, it went from grave to grave and I sat there gaping mouthed... ran like hell. Of course I know nobody believes me, and I don't believe MYSELF, but it freakin' happened! Maybe the fear was playing tricks, I dunno. But haunted houses are one of my favorite things on Earth.

I hope that WAS ghosts you saw... I really want them to exist.

I'm hellbent on spending a night in a haunted asylum someday. Get a nice digital camera and take pictures of all the sad haunted souls I see there. If I see any.

warpphex, that's a scary story indeed. could you describe the two figures in more detail? i mean, were they wearing clothes? did they have expressions on their faces? did they appear to be doing anything at all? i think you should go back to the very spot you saw them (if you can remember) and take a digital photo, and post it on here!

although i am from newcastle (UK), i am currently living in vilnius, lithuania (teaching english out here). it's a very spooky city, lots of people have been killed here by the nazis and soviets (literally 10s, if not 100s of thousands) so i reckon it's prime ghost territory. haven't seen anything yet, but one of my mates here (an irish lad) swears his flat is haunted. keeps hearing footsteps in the night, lights turning on and on his birthday he heard someone playing "happy birthday" with some kind of musical instrument in the next room when he awoke in the morning, yet he was alone!

manicminer i will try and describe them in more detail for ya.
Both figures were wearing clothes i remember one wearing a tipical "french" t shirt it was white with grayish horisontal stripes .
as for there phyisical being they were pure white they were kind of misty but not transparent and the aura was about 8 inches all around them .
They were just following us with there eyes, they didnt move . fuck im scaring myself again thinking about.

one night when i was around 5 or 6 years old i was getting into bed and felt a cold hand grab the back of my neck though the gap in the headboard. i turned around and saw nothing, so i just sat there for hours motionless..
i swear i can still feel those cold clammy fingers clenching..

warpphex: sounds fucking right scary. im a "sundays child" so ive had to put up with some strange things too, 2 years ago in my dads apartment i was up late watching tv too tired to go to bed, and this old ladys voice came up behind my neck and continued out in the bathroom.
  i nearly pissed myself.

that reminds me of one other thing that happened to me: about 5 years ago, i was watching television and somehow the set turned to channel "00" and about a minute later i heard a really loud crash like a really big person stomping on the floor with all of their might.. when i went upstairs, everything was in it's right place, nothing was knocked over or looked strange, and no one else was home the whole time..

I played with a Ouija board back when I was 12 or something, again, in ''my graveyard'' with some friends. Asked it stupid questions, like ''is John gay'', heh... I can't recollect too much about it, but I know that it wasn't ME moving the thing around, dunno who it was... really strange thing, that... I'd LOVE to use one again, with, erm... more thoughtful questions for the spirits.

Hokay, my ghost story:
When I was 16 my grandmother bought a country house. It was in southern Quebec near the border and was hella old. The main part of the house, so the story goes, went back to the American revolution and had been moved across the border by loyalists and plopped onto a new foundation in Canada.

Well, my grandmother and my aunt who stayed there occasionally would often hear strange sounds coming from the attic near dawn. It sounded like something rolling across the attic floor. This was in the old part of the house.

The new part of the house had upstairs bedrooms that faced the old attic, which was closed off by a solid wood door with a lowerable bar. One night I slept in an upstairs bedroom near the attic.

  Bad bad mistake.
Late at night I woke up with a strange feeling that there was someone in the room. (Fuck thinking about this is freaking me out, I just turned on some lights)

In the corner of the room is an indistinct shape. It's near the window so I assume it's the rutains or something, but I hear a voice in my head - say she is here and the shape starts to move towards me. Ot rather, every second or so it appears a foot closer to me.

I stuck my head under the covers and shrieked like a little girl, woke up the whole house and got laughed at.

But let me tell you, no one was eager to sleep upstairs after that. there were fights over the couch.

An old lady who used to live in the house next to mine died of natural causes. About two weeks later, I was in my backyard playing, and I happened to glance over at the window of her house. She was standing there, not moving, just staring out the window. She was white and translucent, a lot like the ghosts warpphex described. The window was open, and a breeze was blowing the curtains...they passed right through her form. I turned and ran inside, as I got to the door, I looked back and she was gone.

here is my story: whether or not it was just a dream, i don't really know.

one time when i was about 10 years old i was at home in my bed at about 11:00 or so at night. it had just snowed so everything had that muffled cold ambience. I was just about to doze off when i heard this strange thumping sound. It was coming from right above me; sort of a scraping pounding noise. I could tell there was something on the roof. I called to my parents but they were asleep and didn't hear me. i went out into the living room and there i saw it:

a huge bearded fat man in a red suit with burlap sack. he was putting something into a sock and then a few packages under the tree my father had put out a few days earlier. he spoke not a word and vanished up the chimney.

i confronted my parents about it in the morning but they only said, "its probably because you were such a good boy this year."

  spookey.

the one thing i remember most is, a few years ago, doing down to the kitchen, and as i was just entering it, i heard someone whisper 'death' right into my ear. i stood still for about half an hour, then moved forward and sat down at a chair, looking blankly at a counter, waiting for someone to get home so i wouldn't be afraid anymore.

(i was alone in the house).

You know most people have some stories like these to tell, whether it be about ghosts, UFO's or marian apparitions. I personally think that some of them are just subjective hallucination but others may definetly be demonic in origin. I don't believe there are actually ghosts of the dead or aliens roaming around but I do believe that evil spirits can create illusions of such things with the intention of messing with us.

I think my girlfriends house is haunted, we hear footsteps going throughout the house somenights...and once we woke up and the glass on one of her french doors were shattered (they are inside mind you)...and sometimes i swear I hear voices...but really if you want to hear some messed up stories, you should hear my aunts ghost stories (part of which my mother experienced)

Good thread..
I believe in ghosts, in the sense that people who see them are not hallucinating, there is something really there, but it is not a visitation from "the other side" or anything like that... I dont believe they are the souls of dead people coming back.

I am sure you will all have noticed how some places or houses have a really nice energy and vibe, and some places have an antmophere and energy that makes you feel uncomfortable. I really think that in some weird way houses or places are able to pick up and absorb energy of people who have lived in them or things that have happened there. Intense emotions somehow leave an indelible mark on the place where they occurred, and I think ghosts are in some way a manifestation of that, rather than being a visitation from beyond death or a restless soul or something.

On a different note, my dad ( a very level headed guy) went to see a spiritual man in India who described my dads whole life story to him, including the name of the house he lived in, the name of his dog when he was a kid, all the medical problems he had ever had, his career history, names of his children etc.. When my dad asked him how he knew all this he replied "the ghosts around you are telling me"... He asked if my dad wanted to know his future and my dads reply was "absolutely no way" since he knew whatever this holy man said was going to be true. I have this guys address in India, if he is still alive I intend to go and visit him one day...
