what does everyone think of this? I saw it down at the
second hand store today, and was going to get it... is it
worth buying?

If you want some nice relaxing Ambient music which you can
fall asleep to, I suggest you go grab it.

I personally prefer the release over SAWII.

I dunno...I feel that it is a lot of pointless noodling. I
listen to it often and it technically great in that it is
heavily sample driven and very beautifully sequenced...but
really sometimes I get the feeling that they were laying the
cheese factor a bit too thick. I listen to it every now and
then though. I feel Dead Cities is a much better FSOL album,
a great one, in fact.

Yes, yes buy it.. It's the reason I started making music in
the 1st place.. Tis a good "headphone" album I reckon...

It's rather dated sounding......totally sampler
driven.....very similar to the orb.

Funkmaster...

I think I have some idea of your taste, with you liking
Passions and all. Because I own the album, and I brought it
over to my Aunt's place and her flatmate had Passions. The
both absolutely loved it, and I burned a copy for them.

Get this album, Funk. I guarantee you will love it :)

It's absolutely incredible. It was my first slice of
ambient.
One night I had friends come over who are usually pretty
rowdy. We smoked a phat doob and I threw on Lifeforms with
a cool visualization. We didn't talk the entire night. We
just stared at the screen and tripped right out to the alien
sounds of FSOL. It was an intense experience.

Yeah, agreed....

It's just chock-a-block full of stuff, there's just so many
layers and so much happening.

My alltime favourite album. The most atmospheric thing I've
ever heard. It just...looks like it sounds. Weird
landscapes, rainforests, etc etc...I can see it every time I
listen. Absolutely fantastic record.
Plus, it has Dead Skin Cells, which is one of the most
beautiful pieces of music ever. And Eggshell.

Eggshell and Omnipresence kick so much ass. Among Myselves
is a hit too.

Omnipresence, too, is outstanding. Did you know the sound at
the very beginning of the song is sampled from that really
tacky 80s fantasy film 'Willow'? I bet nobody even remembers
it. Was watching it a bit back and I about fell off my chair
when I heard it.

Dude, I own Willow!!! What part are you talking about?
(what part of the film)
The sound that springs forth from Lifeforms truly does
create visions of a digital rainforst set 1000 years in the
future. It is a trip full of unbelievable imagery.

It's near the end of the film, I think. It's probably when
they're all waiting around the outside of the castle. It's
the beginning of a shot - the camera changes as that note
plays.
