So yes, I do have the mp3's from soulseek ripped at a nice
192kbps (thanks Duble0Syx) and I've been listening to this
for the past 2 weeks a whole lot. I'm a big µ-ziq
appreciator (though no more releases under this name :/ )
and one main reason I'm a fan is because his releases are so
different from each other. Mike's style is always fresh and
new while retaining that classic µ-ziq feel. This release
is no different:

1 - Johnny Maastricht : Starts out the album with a nice
little ambient intro a la "tango 'n vectif" only better.
Funky beat kicks in while sampled voices play to subdued
melodies with well placed noises poured over the track (some
of which remind me of vsnares). It ends with a classic
µ-ziq melody that totally changes the overall atmosphere.

2. - Meinheld : I believe it was Phobiazero who said that
this track was " is sooooo µ-ziq : excellent! " Goddamn was
he right. A nice dark little piece that is teeming with
colorfull synths playing out some great melodies. Mad drill
'n bass reminisces of the Lunatic Harness era.

3 - Siege of Antioch - Nice noisy drum intro followed by...
well... crazyness, followed by... um... ambient melodies...
Lets just say that this track is one of my favorites. I've
never heard anything like it.

04 - Octelcogopod : Definately a song that could have fit on
Royal Astronomy if it wasn't for all the gritty high pitched
sounds fluttering about. Lots of great atmosphere in this
one, nice use of rythms from all the sounds; a little more
laid back than the other tracks.

5 - On/Off - Leave it up to 'ol Dykehouse to supply Mike
with such interesting voice samples. "Put them panties on,
take them panties off." Why cant I ever hear songs like this
on the radio? Just a great funky tune.

6 - Silk Ties : Another badass original drill'nbass track.
Not my favorite, but I'd kill to hear this played live.

7 - Aec Merlin : Lots of melodies here, prolly to make up
for the lack of them in Silk Ties.

8 - Grape Nut Beats (Pt.1) : Hardcore stuff. I'd r

8 - Grape Nut Beats (Pt.1) : Hardcore stuff. I'd rather
listen to Secret Stair pt 1.

9 - Grape Nut Beats (Pt.2) : Sliced up ragga stuff. Drags on
for bit

10 - Mouse Bums : I'd mistake this for an Autechre track if
it was called "N3.1armvx" Very atmospheric use of distored
beats and such.

11 - Fall of Antioch : Just a beautiful reprise of Siege of
Antioch. The most ambient track on the album.

12 - My Menegegus : First of all, what the hell is a
Menegegus, and where can I buy one? I'm sure if I had one of
those, I'd be pimpin all the ladies... anywho its a great
track.

--------

I guess you can see that my reviews are a bunch of suck,
which is quite the opposite from this album :)

9/10

Just because you've got a Ren avatar I'm with you 100%!
It's a good album though, even in this current state of IDM
critique.

It is definitely yummy music. Not sure if it's better than
Tango N' Vectif or not. I'll just say they are both good.
I may even buy it when it's released. Need to listen to it
more though. Oh, and I finally got a copy of AB3 on vinyl
(the original) and so there is now a good rip of it on
soulseek, rather than the crappy sounding one thats
everywhere.
