any1 know of a little tool to do this (get the soundtrack off an avi movie and export it as aiff or wav or whatever)? mac or pc...

if you use a PC, you can simply record the WAVE-output... Like start recording, and turn on the movie.

i havent got my PC or my iMic with me so i cant do it like that. I can run pc programs on my mac though :)

virtualdub will probably let you do it too. and virtualdub is free

Virtualdub is really good. I thought he only had an imac but after posting realised he had a PC too. Not sure if you can sound rip in virtualdub (I've never needed to) if you can though I'd use that...

steve: If you use mac os 9, you can use SoundApp PPC to do it - simple & easy!
(just choose "import from quicktime" - I?ve done this several times when my digicam found something interesting to sample!)
