i just finished the follow up to the track "ishokemaxe"
that i posted i while ago. this one is mainly made up of the
same sounds as the last, but it's more abstract and
abrasive, with some chance elements put in. i would
appreciate any comments or suggestions.
-thank you much.-
here

I didn't hear the original, but here's what I think of
this:

A good wide variety of sounds, I liked the glitchy
percussive ones and also the one that sounded a bit like an
owl. The bass at around 2.09 is good and the stuttery
percussion at 2.25 is also worth a mention.

I think it might benefit from a bit more of an ending and
also something running through the track to hold it all
together.

If you are into soundcollages, this track is for you. If you
prefer your music more traditional this may not be to your
tastes...

thanks alot for the comments.
i agree with what you say about the sound collage, that is
kind of what i was going for. i'm working on tracks to go at
the end of my album, and i want them to sort of degenerate
into noise at the end. the other tracks are much more
traditional in structure.
the other track is here if anyone wants to hear
it.
thanks again

i'm downloading your track, "snow fall" and will comment on
it in return.

if anyone else wants to review, i can do the same for one of
your tracks. it might take a while, since i'm on 56k, but
i'll do it.

He he, don't expect too much I only put that up as some
people asked to hear it...

all right, snow fall was nice.
it's a little short just by itself, but having that go into
another song after it on a cd would sound great.
i like the piano sound. i don't know if it's from a synth or
it's a real piano. it sounds pretty realistic to me. i like
how it is kind of happy and upbeat, but almost off-key or
dissonant at other times, giving it a bit of unsettling
feeling at times. because of the title, i kind of imagine
snow falling, and seeing the beautiful snow flakes, then
feeling happy, like the songs sounds at the begining, but
then fear and sadness strikes at the end when you realize
you are snowed in, or are lost somewhere in a snowstorm with
nowhere to go..

yes. definitely "abstract". hehe.

and i agree with ceri about the "owl"-ish sounds. and that
bass line he's speaking of reminded me of a video game
called sword of vermillion for sega genesis. god i
loved that game. with the little girl that turns into a
two-headed fireball hurling demon.

thanks for listening, sur.

my tracks allways give you the video game nostalgia, eh?
i'm downloading your new track as i type.

yes. they do seem to. i enjoy it immensely.

so you're putting together an album, eh? you should keep us
all posted as to when that'll be around. i'd be rather
interested in hearing it. heh.

oh. and thanks for the listen over there (shameless
promotion, i know. shh. =]). i wouldn't expect too much from
it, i did the whole thing last night and was pleased enough
with the results to throw it up for people (however few they
may be) to listen to.

thanks a lot for showing interest!
i'm thrilled that you and others want to hear my album. i
still want to get a few more quality tracks done and take
out some of the less good ones before i officially call it
an album. i've also been toying with the idea of sending it
to some record labels, but i don't know if any my music is
good/original enough for that. i guess it's worth a shot
though. but when it does get finished, i'll make sure to
burn a few copies and send them to some of the fellow xlt mb
members who helped give me ideas and suggestions throughout
the process.

maybe i should have a remix contest for one of my tracks
when i finish the album, and give around 10 copies to the
top entries....... because otherwise my cd burner is too
damn slow to actually make enough to give away or sell, and
there's so many tracks..(around 60), it would be a bitch to
download.

...i've been thinking about it and i will have a remix
competition if enough people are interested. the prize(s)
will be a personalized copy of my soon-to-finished album
with their winning track on it.. but i will have to probably
limit it to only the top 5, because i have no printer and
i'll need to print out the little booklet and whatnot on the
school computers... my art teacher would most likely let me
print the shit out, as long as it's not too much. the
tracks to remix would be the ones mentioned in this thread:
qishokemaxez
and
ishokemaxe
if anyone is interested, i'll officially start the
contest-with a new official thread..that is if there are at
least a few more than 5 contestants-then everyone will
actually try and not just be guaranteed a prize just for
entering. if you're interested sign here:

hmm. i would be interested, i'm just not much for "mixing"
tracks. i got started with the autechre thing and just began
to ruin of my favorite (and the simplest) ae tracks. =/ was
sad.

I'd be interested in remixing this.

well if you at least post something made with sounds
from either or both of the tracks it would be very likely
that you'd win an album. then you'd get to hear your
ever-so-good remix at the end of it every time you listen to
it..

Would you be up for making some .wavs/.mp3s of the different
bits available for DL?

i looked, and i really don't have too many of my source
sounds saved anymore, since i have mixed and edited the file
so many times, but i have about 4 clips sitting on my
desktop that were some of the source material for the tracks
to begin with. i suppose i could compress, and upload those
so they be used in addition to the two finished tracks. i'll
post them on the official thread when i get them
uploaded, so we can all stop posting on this one now..
