...as in the bicycle gathering. i'd never heard of this
till recently. today we took over the streets of downtown
minneapolis to downtown saint paul with over a hundred
bikes.

we also biked through the school of management building at
uni and a local green party member who ran for governer here
in minnesota was arrested during this event.

but other than that unfortunate shaft, it was a blast!

plus i'm sore.

does anybody else take part in this?

all the cars stuck in the traffic caused by the bikes burn
more gas then if they could have gone directly to their
destination.

so i don't get it.

but public disorder is fun...

i've participated in the minneapolis critical mass a few
times.

one of the times i was pulled off my bike and had my head
slammed into the pavement by some mean beef.

my bike was impounded and i had to sit around in a squad car
for hours while the officer did nothing with me before
saying "ok, you can go."

other than legal run ins i think it's a great thing for the
biking community. take a break from being run off the road,
etc. meet other bikers.

on the other hand, i think it makes bikers look bad.

personaly, i'd rather it disapeared. i'm a critical mass of
one every day when i take my lane to get around. i've been
doing it for 3 or 4 years, since i started going to school
in the city, and since critical mass took off in minnesota
i've had to deal with some petty, bullshit stuff.

example: the day after a critical mass i was stopped on
washington for going through a red light on my bike.

but whatever, CM gotten a lot better than it was here.
there's a mailing list for thet minneapolis ride ... don't
remember. .. google it or something.
