to do experiments with midi controllers it comes in handy to build a midi-to-voltage interface/converter first because that takes a voltage to controll any midi parameter instead of a midi message, so you can wire any electronic circuit to it to generate midi messages..
wanna know more??
can tell you much about this...

Paia supplies good DIY (do it yourself...;] kits for a reasonable price...
good for building customized midi controllers with not only knobs or faders.......i.e. dynamic drum trigger inputs or or distance measuring circuits so you can build a midi drum controller that knows you gonnan hit is even before you actually hit or touch it... wouldnt that be great???

FuzZie .. how (relatively) difficult is it to make say a 32step midi drum sequencer, with say 8 different midi channels?
and maybe even make it into a square (x-axis steps, y-axis midi channels) and then have knobs for in corresponding x-y to adjust certain parameters .. mmm.. getting a bit complicated now perhaps.

something verrry simple... i want to use it as a mixer... so about 9 knobs would be cool and two crossfaders

I've been considering re-boxing or repainting my phat boy for a while now... Might be fun. The thing is, the way it is at the moment actually matches the colour (yellow and Black) scheme of my soundlab micro mixer and also the first band I was in.
Also, whilst I'd never sell it I'm really sad about keeping my equipment in mint condition and with all the boxes/manuals etc.
