That cover art is horrible - just the sort of crap design
pollution this country is full of.

Why do people think that sort of shit (that is done here to
appeal to pre-teen girls) is cool?

And ooh look it has Japanese writing! THat might might mean
"kill your mum" but it doesnt matter because Japanese
writing = cool.

BTW can you tell I am in a bad mood because of SARS?

Death to Global Goon for creating such a visual
monstrosity!!

Its not exactly original either - that sort of crap been
done so many times before. EG Blech cover in a similar vein
but so so much better...

And are any of you curious as to what it says? Its complete
gibberish...

Like Chinese writing in old martial arts videogames just
being the names of chinese restaurants? (Games designers
sometimes copied the characters from their local chinese
restaurant and used them on backgrounds etc.)

I admit, it is funny the obsession some (western) people
have with oriental text.

It would be lame if hadn't been done so many times before..
Its so tedious it is pathetic.

In case anyone is interested the words say:

Kodomo no hon no akane shoubo.

Which means "Akane Childrens bookstore" (Akane is a persons
name).

= total bollox that has fuck all to do with anthing. Shame
on you global goon!

it looks cool, and thats all that matters - what does it say
tokyojo

You really think that looks cool? If it wasnt for some
Japanese characters, would it still look cool? Wouldnt it be
like the cover of some cretinous colouring book?

Would there be any context for putting "aFeck's Childrens
bookstore" on the cover of an album by GG?

i'm with you tokyojo, i think it looks rubbish, the cover
art for his last album vatican nites, was much better.

Really? Where does it say that?

If you / he / anyone else likes it then obviously what I
think doesnt really matter - I just think there is too much
bad and tacky design around already. Why add to it?

Didnt mean to start ranting though

Gomen nasai (sorry)

Perhaps it's like I described with the chinese restaurant
thing? J-hok just saw a photo of Akane's children's
bookstore and thought the text was cool and copied it.

Oh and it's not just the Japanese writing- it has the cat
from "Hello Kitty" too! ^_^
(sorry, I couldn't resist that...)

As in the two ways to say four? Nothing - but some
circumstances you wouldnt want to say shi - because shinu
also means to die - so there are connotations of death when
you say shi rather than yon.

aah ok :) that's solved then

one more question 'bout japan (if you don't mind), does
everybody have toe-socks there? my uncle went to japan once
and brought us all toe socks, just like these!

they're quite funny, but i don't see the use actually

I saw those for the first time at a house party last
saturday... this girl noticed me staring at here feet in
disbelief from across the room. Really weird.

I have never seen those before in my life..

However, socks like that but with just one split between big
toe and first toe are very common - becuase traditional
Japanese shoes (called Geta) are like flip flops / thongs,
so they have a split so the bit holding them onto your feet
can go beween your toes... If you know what I mean (your
probably dont though as that explanation was appalling).

Yes, I know the ones you mean... I've seen those before.
Meant to be good for climbing as well as wearing sandals.
But most people are not prehensile enough to use toes
individually.

Seems strange to use the extra fabric to cover each toe,
especially as it looks less attractive than normal socks.
