Spread the love for Ka-Spel and the boys. I've fallen
completely in love with them, but it's overwhelming...
dozens of album plus all his solo stuff and work with other
artists... cEvin Key, Current 93, Nurse with Wound... such a
tangled roadmap of music.

But there's nothing so awkwardly beautiful as the Dots, am I
right? Any Day Now and Crushed Velvet Apocalypse are
great... Golden Age, Chemical Playschool 10, Ka-Spel's
Tanith and the Lion Tree... too much music, too little time.

I know Flea loved Tanith and the Lion Tree... and props to
Cabbog for introducing me to them a while ago, but now
they've really hooked me. Where can you get CDs from these
guys online?

The one, the only :

http://www.strangefortune.com

Look no further for all your Legendary Pink Dots needs. The
prices are rediculously low and the service is
(usually)excellent - Just make sure to ask him when he plans
on sending your order out.

excellent!

i had the privilage of seeing them live in Vancouver B.C. a
few years ago. It was at the starfish room, a tiny little
club; a beautiful and intimate performance. cevin key was
in the house that night. i didn't have the nerve to
approach him though...

TO BE AN ANGEL BLIND, THE CRIPPLED SOUL DIVIDE
thats a Tear Garden Release but it's still got ka-spel

best stuff, imho:

tear garden: to be an angel blind...
crystal mass
lpd: from here you'll watch the world go by
chemical playskool 8 & 9
malachai (shadow weaver 2)
shadow weaver
crushed velvet apocalypse

i think malachai is their best work to date, so i also DO
highly recommend checking out nurse with wound, as you
mentioned...

I like Tear Garden better than LPD, personally. cEvin Key is
a genius! I ordered some stuff from Strange Fortune, and I'm
still waiting on my Hecate vs. Lustmord CD, and it's been a
very long time... They billed me for it already so they
better send it to me soon.

My favourite is Under Triple Moons - a collection of earlier
songs. Even though the songs aren't directly related (that
I know of) they're mixed very, very well giving the album a
story-like feel. It's impossible for me to just listen to
one song and then quit, I always have to listen to all of
them together. It might be my favourite album ever.

ohhhhh man i gotta HEAR a band called 'the legendary PINK
dots' i mean it sounds positively Power Puff Girlish.....and
YET not.......ehhehe

*wonders why cabbog didn't recommend to moi......brat!*

I'm listening to them now, have been for hours. Deceptively
dark music... Any Day Now has some pretty sick perverted
imagery. Biting people's ears off during sex... not too
Power Puff Girlish! Kinky.

Alright already.
Try these two off of Crushed Velvet Apocalypse:
- 'I Love You In Your Tragic Beauty'
- 'Any Day Now'
...
Then get 'Princess Coldheart'(dedicated to you!) if you like
those two.

And Ophecks, you need to get Comus's 'First Utterance'
album. Wyrd-folk band that went under pretty quickly in the
early 70s and one of my absolute favorites. Look for the
song 'Diana'.

Have you heard anything from 'The End' yet? I bet LeSnood
would really like it too. Nico's presence is so strong I
think she almost qualifies as my equal. I mean, in terms of
me listening to what she has to say despite her being a
woman.

Yeah, I downloaded the whole album... interesting
experiement with Cale, but I dunno... a bit too avant garde
until that hotass guitar and piano jam at the end. Her voice
does make bad blood flow to my nether regions though.

Ride the highway west!

Baby...

It's OK. It's kind of hard to resist calling people
''peons'' sometimes, so I can forgive you. Very kewl werd.

I'd also have to recommend ''Just a Lifetime'', that's what
made me fall in love with this wonderful group of miracle
workers.

Where does he get those wonderful toys?

You should start marketing your picture archives on cdrs. I
bet you could make a fortune before you get gassed out of
your house and thrown in prison. Down here whenever anyone
gets in any legal trouble they go up there. Does it work
the same way backwards up there? Do people even get in
trouble in Canada?

I saw them live in Atlanta in the fall... they were
fantastic... they did an encore with their super long track
from the end of All the King's Men

Seriously fucking awesome... best stage energy i've seen in
ages... and they make SO FUCKING MUCH MUSIC.

Also, it was funny to watch Ed Ka Spel being taught what the
Segway was by an old man before the show.

its bands like this that will give me heart attack some day
for releasing so much music (like coil, nww, current 93,
swans (before they broke up), throbbing gristle etc). I
would like to know a good introductory album to get into
this band, ive had this band on my queue on soulseek for god
knows how long but I havent heard any yet so, I'll just buy
a cd and go from there.

now i'll have to check out this Comus bussiness too.

and i agree.......it's kinda a bummer getting into groups
who either have broken up, or never tour anymore,
etc......it's like being shown some chocolate bars behind a
glass case thats locked forever.........waaaaaaaaah

Legendary Pink Dots - Crushed Velvet Apocalypse
Try downloading the songs off the album I recommended her
royal snotface a few posts up.

LeSnood: Did you like 'Diana'? I don't remember hearing
anything from you.

Very tough to describe- pop/psychedelia/classical/chamber
music/fantasy hybrid... they've got dozens of albums and
EPs, it's impossible to pin down their strange sound. Really
a little bit of everything. A common thread is all the
mythological and fantasy elements though, has a lot of
imagination and quirky story telling.

I haven't heard that one yet. I'll get it along with
'Nemesis Online' and 'The Maria Dimension' next time I place
an order. I'm slowly encroaching upon Joy Division and The
Soft Boys.. Sloooowly. I'll have them soon.

they have a large "goth" following.
if that gives you any indication of their style of music.

though, unlike many 'goth' bands, LPD and Tear Garden are
actually quite good

It's a 5 star classic, you have my Gypsy Boy word... that
and Any Day Now, that one's got some psychosexual stuff in
it. ''Casting the Runes'' from Any Day Now is so sad,

I trust you gypsy boy. I have no money at the moment though
- I'm still looking for a job that's semi-worthy of the
Cabbog. Electronics Boutique said they'd hire me as soon as
someone gets fired or they need assistance. I practically
work there already. I may have to pull a few shifts as a
grocery boy at Wegmans, which is okay since it's at the top
of the heirarchy. Nothing less will do.
