I'm too stupid to write poetry but here's one from Jim
Davis, creator of Garfield:

I have a buddy
My buddy's a toad
He's kind of muddy
He's flat on the road
But he is my buddy
My buddy to stay
Till he's peeled up
And sailed away

lobotomy lullabies leak
from receivers
pressed into colorless ears.

eyes and lips clipped
from magazines.
sullen stares watch with wonderment.
black cashmere curls
like thick ink.
forgive my lack of artistry.

privative pleasantries pour
into skulls
left mindfully unattended.

eyes enamored shut
from remembrance.
sullied time suggests deceit.
brown mane mussed
by haggard hands.
acknowledge my fleeting patience.

trapped in oblivion
caged in fear
reality escapes
and insanity nears
im losing my grip
and shedding a tear
as i stare into nothing
and nothing appears
my life is a chasm into which i peer
but theres nothing to see and theres nothing to hear

And as the adrenaline slows
and my mind returns to calm
all i can feel is the sweat on my palms
and i cry..
but the view doesnt change when i open my eyes
so i carry on living,
living a lie
its time like this i wish i'd just die,
but i carry on living in this eternal dream
My mouth distorted in a silent scream
And down my cheek rolls a single tear,
which takes me into my final fear
(oblivion)

(ps -- dont flame me, i wrote this when i was about 15 :)
i think it highlights the reason why people arent posting
their poems... poetry tends to be a personal thing

She racked her brain,
for an incredulous band name,
and ended up with Spoingyfluffcloingker

nothing is left to be said by you except
that you deserved this.
no one needs to clarify this,
and one mustn’t befriend the unfriendliness that our
society possesses
no need to justify this
simply simplify or die in the current style
then re-imply and assume
and resume
destroying the desolate distinction
between all of these cross-bred crosses
and your semi-sane insanity
then leave us with peace
and undistracted dysfunction.
an unsure purpose, certainly no reason.
because you’ve never tried it,
is why it forever occurs
try to concentrate this prolific ardor,
while constricting,
into something representing benevolence
this is what transpires; (because of your malevolence)
i don’t believe this is what we deserve
so then all of our greed combines,
into something tangible,
full of fangs and fried circuits,
a semblance of stickiness tangled into your beliefs,
overwhelming the truth,
cherishing this untrue entity,
and reuniting him with his one idol (of remorse.)
it is excruciatingly simple:
while you are widowing your fundamental complications,
you are prevailing in your new found pretentious
peacefulness
this nonsense is quite appropriate.
now condone it,
with no repentance.
i’ve always wished i had a wish
while you desired to desire.
we all dreamt we had a dream.
that our thoughts were thought out loud
and you saw our nerves, exposed.
we shied away from the wee dreams that i thought we all had

but i’m determined to control this:
futile hope
and it seems as if they cannot decide whether to kiss or
kill
they are already afraid of his life of lies,
the weather, and…
three-hundred-thirteen seems superfluous
so eternity would be hell
but hell would be eternity
so can you decide for us?
i cannot, but
if you can’t i will for you
i’ve seen this happen before
i am so sorry
you overkilljoy.
now take your mind, please,
then take it apart.
reassemble and cover,
spread on your sad sabbath’s surgical salve
and cure yourself.
affirm that the therapist is not the rapist

and this life isn’t really just an insect dreamer’s
dream.
while you yearn for this ominous oblivion
i will learn from your enigmatic intricacy
i can already feel myself slipping away
[into your unmistakably complex hostility]
you obliterate me once
then implicate, eviscerate
neutralize and devastate
yesterday’s marauding of this evil charade
wednesday slipped away again today
it was never really here
buy aren’t we all..
nothing can retell the way
that you sang the suffering
of at least two million, their lives list
underneath the way that you
understood the standing unknown
christ is simply christ
simple is as you forgot
simple is us all
singing again beneath the stars
while you’re above from another’s view
watching back at the same moment
twisting perception to meet us
but not you,
never.
then suddenly you snap the circle
blending delight with agony
and the disregarded lives
of all other humans
resulting in the demise of this dogmatic chemical
and you will never know
no one ever will
and then violate, desecrate, annihilate
never again will you speculate how
i have countless reasons why you fill me with contempt
gone are the un-serene sirens that perturb us.
yet again i’m repulsed by the repugnance that you reveal
if my wish for a wish ever did come true,
then i wish you’d never again replace
me with you

Melissa:

You are my heart,
You are my soul,
You give me life,
And make me whole.

I give to you,
All of my life,
To hope someday,
You'll be my wife.

I want to live,
Life by your side,
To see the love,
You have inside.

I want to dream,
Sweet dreams of you,
And ever know,
Our love is true.

I wrote this for my gf as part of her birthday present :)

I tell you now,
I know for sure,
My heart was ill,
You are the cure.

Melissa dear,
I love you so,
And with these words,
I let you know:

You are my heart,
You are my soul,
You give me life,
And make me whole.

i think poets, mimes, and film critics should be rounded up
and shot.

the poets could write bad poetry, the mimes could do bad
performance art interpreting the poetry, and the critics
could review it. then they could all die! and the world
would be a better place.
