I climb them and they inspire me to write such songs as
"Heal the World" and "Black or White"

i've climed right to the top of a macrocapa tree before,
when i was real young - about 7. Thats about ummm 12 metres
or something? I was light then, so the small branches up the
top didn't break.
At the top, there was nothing but a sea of green and the
blue sky, i remember it well. I've yet to experience it
again.....

You don't need to be in a tree to swing
like a madman [when dancing].
But yeah, I think I've heard thoose songs.

wow! beautiful tree!

Is really (the nature of) New Zeeland as beautiful as
everybody saids (and what I've seen of it - on pictures n
stuff).
It seems like some kind of paradise!

ohhh, it is! (especially when you're not there....)
Its just a bit of a disadvantage, being so far away from
europe... Rephlex, Warp... they've never come to NZ...
But its great - only 3.6 million living in a pretty big,
beautiful island!
And we have th sea! (...unlike in switzerland...)

What is Sweden like? Is there lots of untouched nature? Big,
good climbing trees??

yeah. Sweden's a big country, and it has lots of different
types of nature, though most of it is touched =/
There are a lot of trees in Sweden, they grow everywhere =)
but the biggest ones are in the north part of Sweden.

I'd love to go to New Zeeland some time, just to experience
what great nature can be like.
What season (around what time of the year) do you suggest me
to go there?

offline bird from New Zealand, but in (Switzerland) on 2003-04-14 13:23 [#00649947]
Points: 394 Status: Lurker

hmmm.... well, maybe summer is the best. We don't really
have such defined seasons as in Europe (ie winter is not so
cold, can be warm... summer is not so hot, can be cold..)
Yeah, summer i think. There are many nice beaches, scenic
parks, umm... heaps of touristy places. But also many places
that no one goes to, that are just as, if not more
beautiful!
I'd recommend you to spend a good amount of time there (not
just a week or so...) and get into the new zealand rhythm,
which is kinda laid back, and take-it-easy dude attitude!!

opposite to europe

yeah... I'll maybe be able to go there in 3 years (if I'm
going to stay there for a mounth or so, like you
recommended), but I'm sure it'll be worth all the
waiting...
atleast nature doesn't destroy itself =)

never... i would like to sometimes, be at the top of a
tree... but i wouldn't like getting down... maybe a
comfortable laid place at the top of a tree...
or swimming in the air, over the trees, into the trees...

"child in the tree
you're so high
child in the tree
look at the world down there

child in the tree
you're too high
child in the tree
nobody'll get you down again

someone must have been talking
the blue men came along
someone must have been talking
the whole place run away

child in the tree
you're so high
child in the tree
just when the poison gets inside

child in the tree
you're too high
child in the tree
nobody'll get you down alive

- the young gods, child in the tree

a sad song... about dreaming?

I love climbing trees, and take the opportunity whenever I
can. It's cool having a twelve-year old nephew, because
otherwise I'd get weird looks ! But climbing trees is so
much fun ! I've enjoyed it since infancy

none that are massive -- just ones that are enjoyable to
climb ! Lots of branches - nice places where you have to hug
the tree and inch your way up ! Good places to rest on a
long branch and read a book! :)

1. How ofthen do you climb trees?

About 4 times a year on average.

2. What preferences do you have when it comes to
footwear/handgear?

No gloves, t-shirts rather than long sleeves- I prefer to
get scratched than tangled up. I tend to wear slip on
training shoes.

3. How high do you usually climb, and what is your
record (high+time spent in tree)?

Usually about 3 metres. For about 2 minutes. Highest was
about 4/5 metres when I was younger and lighter.

4. For what reason do you usually climb trees?
(select an alternative below)

Last time it was because I was drunk. I fell out of the
tree. I still have several splinters in my arms from it and
lots of scratches. A wound that was open for 5 days
afterwards is only now starting to disappear.

5. If you do not climb trees ofthen, what is the
main reason for not climbing?*

There were some excellent trees to climb where I last
worked, but I refrained for fear of jeapordising my chances
of a job once I return after my final year at university.

I used to climb them a lot a few years ago. Was just looking
at some last night and thinking it would be pretty nice to
climb them. The bigger the better. I just love getting right
to the top when it it swaying but safe.

I've got a fair amount of woods (hence, many trees) on
either side of my property, so I used to climb them with
regularity... but now I'm too lazy and I've lost my lust for
life... lost that spark.

Maybe I should go out back and climb some, it would be good
for me.
