i've seen download mentioned in various threads on this
board recently, so i thought they (or whatever) deserve a
topic of thier own.

if you DON'T know download my suggestion is to try out their
album called 'effector'. it's a fantastic album with lots of
very varied tracks, heavy beats, great melodies and weird
samples.

i think many people on this board would definately like it.
don't miss out! :)

download is super fantastic... III and Effector are both
wicked... but i'd say that The Eyes Of Stanley Pain and
Furnace are two of the creepiest, most interesting albums to
come out of the 90's/Canada...

it's true... i was actually thinking of using the original
cover of Buck 65's Vertex album... but as far as i know, i'd
need photoshop to edit the picture properly... i could be
wrong... maybe i can do it in paint... can i do it in paint?

Furnace and Effector are my favorite albums, and I think
Cevin Key´s "ghost of each room" will soon be counted to
them also. (I´m listening to it for the first time now, and
I like!!)

Charlies Family and The Eyes of Stanley Pain isn´t really
my cup of tea, but I still appreciate the good work of the
artists.

What do you guys think of Skinny Puppy then?

used to be a crazed skinny puppy fan

nowadays ogres 'philosophies' are a bit much for me to
swallow.. and their music has dated a bit.. but they have so
many classic songs. champions.

Ok, I´m a newbie at Skinny Puppy stuff. I have this album
called B-sides Collect, and that´s really the only one
I´ve heard. I´m curious of their last album, the one that
ends with a track called "Download". Do you know what the
name of that album may be?

Thanks!! I´ll get it right away... Are you on Soulseek? (I
found that Download´s stuff are really difficult to find on
Slsk, maybe the same goes for S.P?)

dont get me started... just wait until the new puppy
tour/album!!!! ARGH!!! i got to see both download (stanley
pain tour) and ohgr (ROCKS!) and i cant wait to see puppy in
their glory!!! saw pigface too, couldnt take my eyes off
ogre, wonderfully charismatic performer.

i recommend the following for those new to pup/the whole
ogre/key/goettel scene:

* v/a: paradigm shift (awesome compilation full of
unreleased material from their various projects)
* skinny puppy: last rights (THE skinny puppy album. beware:
not for the faint of heart)
* skinny puppy: rabies (produed by al from ministry. has
that sound to it. harsh guitars and AWESOME lyrics/vocal
performances. be sure to get the remastered version)
* cEvin key: the ghost of each room (ogre and key's first
work together in over 5 years appears on here. crazy good
album... shows a new direction for key)
* download: III (kinda dubbed out/clubed out. pretty
melodies & trance rhythms. less noisy than previous
releases... more stark)
* download: sidewinder ep (skip "eyes" and get this little
gem. better versions of sidewinder, base metal [with a
wicked beat], and a few [4 or 5] unreleased tracks that
whoop stanley's hide)
* pigface: fook (the album that got me away from 120 minutes
and into the underground. a classic in industrial/chicago
indie music. a must own.)

and i almost forgot:

*ohGr: welt (great 80's ish pop album. who knew this guy had
it in him. move over, peter gabriel)

well... i'm not sure about the upcoming puppy album. of
course, we have no idea today what it will sound like, but
what worries me is that they may use a lot of guitars...
which i'd prefer them not to.

i have never liked the process too much.
rabies is not my favorite either...

i'm not against guitars in general, but i think skinny puppy
is better off without them.

there are quite a lot of guitar sounds on TDP as well, but
those are used in another way. not the metal-way, if you
know what i mean. :)

walk, with otto von scirach among the additional performers.
nuff said!

i liked frozen sky and the first two tracks from the ghosts
of each room, but the rest of it seemed kinda shoddy to me.
i didn't like the new skinny puppy song on the underworld
soundtrack a bit -- hopefully they get their shit
together...
