He also has high hopes of eventually returning to the
Alien franchise as long as he can get the go-ahead to make a
truly scary (and likely R-rated) film.
The 1979 original Alien, directed by Ridley Scott, "holds a
special classic niche as one of the great terrifying
experiences," Cameron said. "And the trick (to making a new
Alien film) is you don't go crazy and make a $150-million
movie because you don't want to have to compromise, you
don't want to try to do a PG-13 Alien that is all things to
everyone."
An Alien flick, Cameron said, ought to put the psychology
back into psychological horror.
"It's got to still maintain its roots in this kind of
cinematic id. Ridley did it really beautifully. He just kind
of put you into this Freudian nightmare space."

i dunno what else can be done with this movie series. the
first one was so GREAT, and scary. aliens 2 was pretty scary
and FUNNY......then it just got less and less interesting
after that.

cameron can make good movies, he just has that tendency to
go OVER the top and make these megabusters that are too much
special FX and not enough substance. i'd prolly go see
another aliens (bargin matinee) just to see what he comes up
with.....ehhehehhe

*loves movies*

Still, id like a new alien flick no matter who does it, and
hopefully this new one will give Giger the credit he
deserves!!! Without him the movie would be bollox.

big idea with the r-rated thing...
i thought about a real creepy giger movie all in his world,
which is never gonna be made i believe.

r-rated alien 5 would be nice...
i hope for it to happen

I don't get it - a new 'R' rated film is different from the
other 4 'R' rated Alien films how?

His other Alien film rocked, so it's ok by me.

actually, he has the tendency to go over the top and still
have substance, his Aliens was just as great as Ridley's in
it's own way, I can't tell which one I like better, ridley's
or cameron's because they both have different approaches
that were executed to perfection.
I can't agree any less with dirtypriest though, I surely
wouldn't want this franchise turned into shit by letting any
director get his hands on it, as shown in the abominable
alien resurrection, which raped the trilogy so much by
making it a silly cartoonstyle flick with no
atmosphere,realistic-ness or seriousness in it at all.
The only approach to the Alien franchise that would get me
excited now, would be that they reach earth and spawn like
crazy creating more hell on earth, resulting in some huge
ultimate battle that would evaporate mankind forever.

the others were r?
ok maybe, but his statement sounds like he wanted to top it,
so it sounds quite good

i can imagine a lot more sex and splatter,
without loosing the creepy touch and becoming
ridicoulous...

but only if it gets a mixture between the first two
films...
like a spaceships gets a emegency call from a station on a
planet and nobody knows about anything, so itll be
completely new to everybody in that movie...
+ a cave embedded in the planet that is full of the
creepiest ever

btw does anyone know the aliens vs predator comic?
very nice combination i would say

for those who dont know...:
predators let aliens breed on some planet to have a hunt
later...
in that comic a human colony gets between those two space
races

aliens on earth would be a big idea, but very costy i would
say...

i definately wanna see that,
but not with such stupid ideas like in independance day and
please no patriotism...

no not like that, but real dark and sober without a happy
ending. I dreamed some lovely scary scenes of Aliens on
earth once, but a movie can never top that :P
