hard work and a headache.

when i got draft 7.30 on monday, i put it on and thought
"for fucks sake, another confield." after the first listen i
put it on once more and thought exactly the same.

so today i decided that there must be some sense to it
somewhere, like with confield. i dug out everything that i
own by autechre, which is 7 albums and about 8 singles/eps
and started from the start. i've just finished listening to
draft 7.30 again and it makes A LOT more sense! i think the
key to this kind of stuff is to build yourself up to it. i
don't normally EVER listen to any of my autechre stuff, but
i reckon the last 2 albums will make more sense to me after
doing all this.

but at the same time the book i was reading (1984) will
always be associated with crunchy beats, and i've got a
headache coming on!

don't you just love associating things (books, new toys,
experiences) with music?

draft is wonderful, it got me back into the
listen-to-autechre mood.

and i ordered iss:sa today!

I don't get what all this talk about understanding the music
comes from. To me it is just sounds and patterns that I
either like or I don't like. Perhaps someone could explain
to me exactly what they end up "understanding" or "making
sense of" in the music?

btw I am not having a go at you bob I have saw it countless
times on this board when people are talking about Ae. it
gives me the impression you are really trying to like
something that you currently don't like.
