Ambient 4 - Isolationism

Anyone have this record? The old compliation that first
featured the Aphex Airlines track..

Or more to the point - can anyone actually listen to it? I
have never managed to listen to even one of the records
without having to take a break. It really is the most
harrowing and depressing record EVER.

Is anyone here harder than me, and managed to listen to it
all the way through - without having to change their
underwear?

Hohoho

Ambient 4 (eno) is nice and relaxing - Ambient 4 (Various
artists) is pant cackingly terrifying...

i borrowed this album years ago from a friend. it was his
mom's cd :) she's some kind of 'modern classic' composer.

i didnt like it back then. but it was 5 or so years ago.

I love Isolationism. It's one of the best dark ambient comps
out there. Although I was familiar with almost all the
artists seperately to begin with. Isolationist music in
general is a bit of an acquired taste. If you're not into
that kind of thing it's very hard to get into it.
In case you didn't know, as a point of trivia, it was
compiled (along with the other releases in the Ambient
series) by Kevin Martin aka The Bug aka Techno Animal.

And no, I've never had to change my underpants while
listening to it :)

Agreed with blip...

One of my fave comps...(altho yeah, the AFX track isn't
perhaps the strongest on there ;)...

Not scarey....but a welcome change from the SOMA that is
most ambient stuff...

Illbient ...I LOVE THAT WORD!!...

I think you should be very careful with that record... If
"illbient" is not your cup of tea - it might cause serious
pyschological problems.

DOtn listent to it while alone in a dark and creepy house..
:)

Shut yourself in a room with the Merzbow boxset for a couple
of days and you'll soon sonically toughen up...:)...

No I have come to the realisation that I am a wuss and I
prefer the nice fluffy stuff that used to abound in the
early 90's.. Banco, Rising High, Apollo etc etc

all this noisy, creepy glitchy and weird stuff nowadays is
all too much for me.

I am getting old... :(
