Ok.. first of all, i´m a total Vsnares newbie and was
greratly interested in his stuff after hearing so much on
this MB ober the past few weeks... especially with the odd
comparison to my presonal fave.. Squarepusher. So i
iuntentionally refused to buy/listen to any of his stuff
before ATP.

I´ve read things like.....
Overrated, chaotic, extreme, noisey, too random, etc etc and
i was keen to check him out
So.......
HE WAS FUCKING AMAZING!! The last act to play at ATP he
ripped it up with a live punkish singer screaming like a
bitch over the beats. There was melody and great drim beats
in all the tunes but so many that the brain was about 5
mintues behind in it all.......... random? yeas...
chaotic... probably, but it all fucking made sense really!
The last two mtracks were pure noise tracks..... a fax
machine underwater that was sooooo loud the sound passed
through the breain tissue directly, avoingt hte aural
canal.... then the last trtackwas a wall of guitary
distrortion. AFX was dancing like a madman near me and Funk
himself was lost in his own sequencing. TRULY AMAZING and
with Russel Hassle, highlight of the gig!
Compàred to Squarepusher? in the enerfgy and
enthusiasm....... yes! buts overall Tom has more
musiccallity to it....... this is more noisy fun-based but
equalkly worth seeing. I´m gonna get all his stuff now!

I would love to see VSnares live, ive heard him live before
and it's damn good, but i must admit, being there and seeing
him and seeing Aphex dance would totally rule

d´you know what?

The Aphex set was no where near as crazy as i´ve heard
before. Pretty strainght really. i heard so many people
asay about it - he should have broken up the jungle with
some extreme noise shit and brought the jungle back in at
the end. He did break it up with Ziggomatic vut ya just
begged for a sonic assault at some point. Vsares gave us
that as did Russel Hassel...

The nearest thing to autechre type sound-manipulation was
Push Button and Farmwrmanual. Coil were pretty trippyu too
but hte vocals made it boring after 5 tracks.

I guess being a vsnares n00b that you don't know if he
played any new/old material.

Can't wait for the 30 minute broadcast on Peel this
Thursday. How long was his set overall?

i saw him at dedbeat, admittedly i ended up sitting down and
watching as it was a bit too much for me! i was quite
impressed though. he had the same girl singing aswell at the
begining, and also speedranch with him at the end jumping
around like a crazy person! from what i've seen he actualy
mixes his cds together as opposed to using sequencing gear
etc, quite strange!

his set was about 1.5 hrs long. it was all new to me!
ecelent squarepousher type breaks and tiny little vocal
samples that made ya lust for more.. radio announcement
stuuf, ad-samples etc. tiny bits of gabba too that really
made me crave a bit of 500bpm.. which was delivered!
