KLF

WooferAttack!!! from Milan on 2001-04-10 10:12 [#00003035]

I don't like KLF, but I love one old song.

The title is "What time is love?" Original Acid Mix.

It was my first electronic song that I loved (1988-89).

Do you know this song and What Do you think about it?

It's a bit of a classic , yes . . . .

Id Lab on 2001-04-10 18:50 [#00003055]

Pretty good, but Chill Out is the only record of theirs I
often listen to. It's completely different - have you heard
it? Space is cool too. Then there's the 'situationist' stuff
like the Jams and 2K. You have to know the theory behind the
whole Drummond / Cauty operation to fully appreciate the
music.

klf is gonna rock you, adn they tried int he early 1990's

velocity_kendall from in here on 2001-04-11 09:08 [#00003127]

I don't think you have to " know the theory of the whole
Drummond / Caulty operation " to appreciate their music at
all .

When i heard Chill Out & Space , I knew next to nothing
about them .

But that didn't make the music any less important to me .

Yes , I've read " The Manual " , "45" , "From the shores of
lake placid" and "Bad Wisdom" to name a few of the other
thing's the've done ( books that cover their , dare i say it
, "theory" in one way or another) and to be honest , the
music still sound's exactly the same to me .

Just as good as when i first heard it .

Try "What Time is Love (Original Mix)"
It's an acid melody. The first electronic song that I really
loved. It's a cult!

Netlon Sentinel from beyond on 2001-04-18 14:23 [#00003772]

the klf to me are the godfathers of techno. songs like 3 am
eternal, what time is love, last train to trancentral are
pure classics.
i stumbled on a live cd of theirs, called the white room. it
cost 26 pounds at hmv in bath, so i decided not to buy it.

tssk. ridiculous prices...

why is it so hard to find anything by the klf??

pixie from Scotland on 2001-04-18 17:56 [#00003795]

hi yeh, im the new girl. just a wee question. What kind of
musical backgrounds do you people have? I mean that in the
nicest way, it's just that i'm interested to know if you
were into dance music or noisy, grungy stuff or electronic
etc. I don't mean now because I'm sure you all have very
varied tastes but where have you come from, if you know what
i mean.

pixie from Scotland on 2001-04-18 17:57 [#00003796]

sorry if i broke the rules by bringing up a new topic

po{e} from THE UK on 2001-04-18 18:00 [#00003797]

u arent breaking the rules pixie,

my dad likes aphex D'OH!, and he got me into kraftwerk,
orbital, aphex etc

i used to like indie music, but the call of electronic
always brings me back to the one true source

"Space" is one of the reasons I'm hear today listening to
this sort of music, in retrospect though it's more of an
ambient DJ set then a bona fide piece of original music (as
is "Chill Out") but it's impact cannot be forgotten, hell I
wasn't even into drugs back then and it still sounded great.

Hiya Pixie and welcome, my musical background is pretty
eclectic as I imagine is most of the people on this board.

Obviously electronica is the main thing that people discuss
but I'm also partial to a bit of guitar every now and again
and often post in topics related to bands rather than
electronic artists.

Anything goes really as long as it's cool.

Of course as to what exactly is "cool" is always open to
debate and that's half the fun of it, you can get into
heated arguements with people you disagree with and slap the
backs of people who share your taste.

that's what message boards are all about really.
