fuck off. aphex will never "sell-out". its not like if you played an aphex tune that was used for an advert, everyone would say "oh, that was on that advert".
plus, if someone asked me to use my music for an ad, i'd gladly oblige them...especially if they were offering me as much money as they were probably offering him.
Its not like he was advertising McDonalds and Pepsi or anything...it was fucking british airways and orange mobile phones!
get a grip, he'll never, as you put it "sell-out".

chill out man, no need for harsh words. he has technically sold out. placing your songs in an advert for monetary gain is selling out. i could care less about this though as it hasn't affected his music in the least, and no one knows who he is or has probably even seen those adverts anyway.

I thought selling out was making your musical style more commercial (or fashionable) for the sake of making more profit. Aphex has never done this, I mean come on, do you think it was part of a big marketing scheme for him to give us (exceptional) Satie-esque piano tracks? Fuck no!

Limp Bizkit [my god, i actually liked their first album] Staind [my god, i actually liked their first album] Red Hot Chili Peppers [perhaps, but they are old now, so maybe they're forgiven]
Its hard to define selling out though. People think selling out is when they get popular, but thats just like minded people discovering good tunes. Change in direction isnt really selling out either, cause artists get older and their tastes change. Its a bit suspicious if they change to more radio friendly styles, or worse still, a rock band starts releasing a token radio friendly acoustic single with each album. Selling out to me is that, or snatching every dollar held in front of their noses with no thought for their reputation, fan base, etc. Or releasing a bad album every 9 months instead of a good one every 30. Today i is mostly listening to Damien Rice, O
