Coil, Coil, and MORE COIL!!!

The Price Of Existence Is Eternal Warfare

COIL is a hidden universal. A code. A key for which the
WHOLE does not exist. Is NONEXISTENT, in silence and
secrecy. A spell. A spiral. A serpents SHt round a female
cycle. A whirlwind. A double helix. DNA. Electricity and
elementals. Atonal noise, and brutal poetry.

COIL is amorphous. Luminous and constant change. Inbuilt
obSOLescence. Inbuilt Disobedience. A vehicle for
obsessions. Dreamcycles in perpetual motion. We are
cutthroats. Infantile. Immaculately Conceived. Dis-eased.
The Virus is Khaos. The cure is Delirium.

COIL are Archangels of KHAOS. The price we pay for existence
is eternal Warfare. There is a hidden coil of strength,
dormant beneath the sediment of convention. Dreams lead us
under the surface, over the edge, to the Delerium state.
UNCHAINED. Past impositions and false universals.
Reassembling into OUR order.

COIL. Who has the nerve to dream, create and kill, while the
whole moves every part stands still. Our rationale is the
irrationAL. Hallucination is the truth our graves are dug
with. COIL is compulsion. URGE and construction. Dead
letters fall from our shedding skins. Kabbala and KHAOS.
Thanatos and Thelema. Archangels and Antichrists. Open and
Close. Truth and Deliberation. Traps and Disorientation.

Coil exist between Here and Here. We are Janus Headed.
Plural. Out of time. Out of place. Out of Spite. An antidote
for when people become poisons.

COIL know how to destroy Angels. How to paralyse. Imagine
the world in a bottle. We take the bottle, smash it, and
open your throat with it. I warn you we are Murderous. We
massacre the logical revolts. We know everything! We know
one thing only. Absolute existence, absolute motion,
absolute direction, absolute Truth. NOW, HERE, US.

"Not Knowing What Is And Is Not Knowing, I Knew
Not"

regarding coil, here are my two cents. your first order of
business should be to find out who you are, and if you are
inclined to believe that the price of existence is eternal
warfare, you should investigate the law. without it, you
are lost. there exists only light, or denial of the light,
no darkness. i agree that coil is best when john balance
is silent, though i have not heard anything since bld, which
i did not enjoy, and worship the glitch, which is
interesting but really just seems to be the result of
massive processing, so a bit like a rorschach pattern. when
you believe in darkness which does not exist, you will allow
that which does not exist to initiate your undoing. on a
lighter note, i'd like to recommend "stengel" by artist
"sogar" on the french "list" label. free of the pretense
of darkness, and no cult of personality. warm, enveloping,
crackling sound.

I think that manifesto's a bit crusty actually. They're
lovely individuals now; they drink nettle tea and have a
fridge full of aged cheese. I really like you by the way.

I just picked up a few days ago Moon's Milk in 4 phases for
15.99 along with draft 7.30. i must say its just awesome, I
like it a lot better than musick to play in the dark vol 1
and its uncomparable to constant shallowness...they had
scatology for 13.99 and lots of other stuff but I felt like
getting more recent coil rather than the older stuff for
right now.

Which Equinox\Solstice do you like the best? Autumn and
Winter are my favorites.. and the live version of 'Amethyst
Deceivers' is fantastic.

I think Geoff was around 19 at the time of that writing. If
rewritten I think the words would be much different..
They're realigned and more refined now. Gentleman even.

Queens Of The Circulating Library is very nice...
one single track of 49 minutes 26 secondes, in the style of
Time Machines (and a few lyrics at the beginning, from a
female singer with a very harsh, like a scary teacher's,
voice)... : )

Two guys trying to say that some art is good and some is
bad. Really art is a personal thing. Everybody likes
different things for different reasons. That's what makes
art specia, and kind of magical apart from all of the other
things that the human race has created.

And what it comes down to is that you're arguing over Coil,
which no matter what you have to say, you've got to tip your
hat to them for being at one time Ass kicking pioneers...

PS. 20 to 2000 was Elph (a coil side project) not Coil. So
technically it was the best 20 minutes Elph had done. haha

"(female singer with a very harsh, like a scary teacher's,
voice)"

Thighpaulsandra's mother Dorothy Lewis (a trained opera
singer now retired) recites the lyrics especially written
for her by John Balance; and for mothers everywhere.

yes, i know! ^^
been lurking at brainwashed.com/coil for quite a long time
now : )

"ELpH is the entity Coil use to describe what musical
compositions come out of the equipment that are sometimes
unrehearsed or consciously thought of."

i read in an interview i think (or somewhere else?) that
ELpH was also a bit like a spirit who visited the Coil
members, inspiring them for the making of Worship The
Glitch... if i remember...

three "gentle drone" tracks, according to the news)

...and there is a (new?) track by NWW called "Pre-Menstrual
Music For Merry Maidens". i have to get this!! NWW
track titles are the best (along with Merzbow's) : D

(and when will they repress Constant Shallowness... and
NWW's Soliloquy To Lilith?? damn you World Serpent Y_Y)

oh and i have a choice of these cd's:

Plastic Spider Thing
Black Light District
How to Destroy Angels
Scatology

which one should i get? Could someone describe briefly what
each album is like?

I've only got the Music to play in the dark 1 and 2, and
moons milk: four phases.

i don't have Plastic Spider Thing, but it's not directly
from Coil... other people remixing Coil and some other bands
(NIN for example). don't know how it is, i heard one track
was almost exactly one NIN song played backwards, so...
well, i don't know.

Black Light District is of their dark ambient, a bit like Astral
Disaster if you heard some of it - i like those two very
much! can't really describe it, it is a different aspect of
Coil than the one you can know from Moon's Milk and Musick
To Play In The Dark... it can be quite very repetitive but
it is very good still. 'Refusal of Leave to Land' is my
favorite, beautiful track. (the vinyl edition has an extra
track not included on the CD, with lyrics this time - you
can download it from Refund's site).

How To Destroy Angels II is good as well, except that all tracks sound
a bit the same since all are remixes and one re-recording of
the same track (the first Coil track/release ever, i.e. the
original How To Destroy Angels, released 1981 in vinyl only
- ritual music for the accumulation of male sexual energy),
but it isn't boring if you like it. it is also ambient, but
in a different way - creepy, melodyless ambient. very good
as well. listen to this in the dark, it surely will bring
you to another weird creepy world!

Scatology is a classic by Coil, not ambient this time,
sounding more primal and "dirty" - it has an 80's feeling to
it, sometimes it's unequal, but there are real gems on this:
"Panic", "Tenderness of Wolves", "Restless Day", and the
cover from Soft Cell's "Tainted Love" (don't miss this
track, if you don't buy Scatology at least download their
Tainted Love cover!) there are almost as much instrumentals
as songs with lyrics on this one.

so... depends on what you prefer! : )

How To Destroy Angels is harder to get into than Black Light
District, but i couldn't tell which one is better... Black
Light District also brings more emotions i think (maybe it
is my favorite from these three?), and is more varied,
whereas How To Destroy Angels is more experimental...
Scatology is one of Coil's essential recordings, in a more
classic way...

an important thing - if you pick Scatology, MAKE SURE it's
the remastered 2001 version, with the red cover!
the band doesn't get paid for the other reeditions...

wow, sounds like the perfect record :)

think i'm gonna get that one monday, though eventually i'll
have them all!

thanks for your help Uzim, you certainly know a lot about
them :) you seen them live before? i'm seeing them for the
first time in July.... gonna drag a friend along with me.

think i'm gonna have to make a compilation for him, it's
gonna be hard finding the most accessible songs, one's where
he aint gonna think "i'm not gonna see this werido band" :)

strange cos i really dont find any of it weird, though i
guess too many people are used to simple music on the radio
and charts.

tibbar: i agree with your post that includes; "the lyrics
are trite, bad pagan references mixed with drug
babble"

never have i heard coil's lyrics been described so well. I
think they could have put more thought into it...or at least
practiced improving for when they hit the studio they can
"freestyle" some better lyrics.

as far as glitch and black light district being a couple of
coil's best; i agree!

btw...i also heard rumors that black light district was to
be a series of releases.

i still have that Coil live streaming video i've been posting
everywhere, if you haven't seen it already!

nanotech > those rumors are official!
...but Coil always have so much projects in the making in
the same time... better be patient! ^^

Like, it tried too hard to be scary... and ended up cheesy.
