THIS CD IS FANTASTICO!!!! i can't recommend it enough.....i
may even prefer this to ()......it's so beautifully
sad.......aiiaiaiaiai

this is from the inside cover of the CD insert......

Hlemmeur is Reykjavik's main bus station and perhaps the
most disdained place in Iceland's capital. Like any
transportation node, the terminal offers the promise of
escape, yet it is also the grim terrain upon which a
collection of destitutes appear trapped. Alone and broke,
they exist on the edge, exiled from their families and from
social norms. Some struggle with long-term alcoholism,
depression or serious mental illnesses, others are on
benefit, burdened by debts, or are simply old and lonely.
Their existence is spent between escaping their losses and
pain, and a grim clinging to the hope that things will one
day get better. They speak frankly and sometimes
surprisingly poteically about their life on the street and
what drove them there.

Filmed digitally. 'Hlemmur' is a powerful and insightful
documentary, refusing to aestheticise or glamourise these
lives. Drawing out their stories in a gritty yet very human
picture, it opens out an intimate window on those
'forgotten' or 'invisible' characters that socieity usually
avoids through fear or glimpses briefly, uncomprehendingly
at safe distance.

this SO reminds me of the POWERFUL movie 'Dark Days' which
was scored by DJ Shadow........man i wanna see this film
even more after listening to this score.......amazing
....powerful.....and beautiful!!!!

*run don't walk to see it* =0)

Anyone else thing Sigur Ros is extremely over-rated? :)
I've never been impressed with them. I find it to be
ultimately boring.
I'll give 'em another shot though--suggest some tracks
please, folks?

i go to helmmur like 3 times a week or so to take the bus
home from school. usually there are very weird people (f.e.
IDM freaks like me ;-))/bums who hang out there.. saw the
film few weeks ago on tv, thought it was very intresting and
kinda sad :/

well it's not filthy at all. the film is expecially sad when
one of the character that they focus on dies during the
making of the film (we don't get to know how) and his bum
friend (well ex-bum now i've heard) goes to his grave to
morn his best friend

Le Coeur is right, watching grotesque and realistic movies
like Hlemmur does make you appreciate life more!¨
You guys probably have to get your ass to Iceland to see
this flick cause it probably wont be released outside
Iceland although its a distant possibility.

I go to Hlemmur whenever I need to catch a bus and its quite
fun actually!
If your lucky you get to chat with the drunks there,
depending on what mood they´re in. Even very philosophycal
and intellectual conversations sometimes because some of
these unlucky guys are pretty smart. One guy in the movie
e.g. was a well known and smart buisness man before he
suddenly lost everything. There is a fine line here in
Iceland from being successful and out on a limb like most of
the persons who hang out in Hlemmur. A lot of these persons
are still smart and yet have something to give to the
society. We should reflect on them with respect and hope.
Thats what this movie Hlemmur was meant to be about though
it shows the brutal nature of being a bum here in
Reykjavik.

Addi b has spoken
