Whoever said this is more accesible is mad. But it's still
fun, and I hope it'll grow on me. I don't REALLY like the
way some tracks de-construct from their great begginings,
but it works well on some of the tracks. I like the way
they've decided to be more surprising and random (especially
on Theme Of Sudden Roundabout) where the second half is
completely different to the first.

Overall, a good album. Not TOO different to Confield, but
that's ok with me.

I agree with that guy :D

I personally think it is less accessible than Confield. But
it is another great album from the boys :D

im not sure im going to buy it...yet...i listen to autechre
so rarely, it would be silly to buy more of their
albums...their music just doesnt do anything for me...im
kind of sad about it since they have so many releases, but
it just doesnt click for me...

Yeah, it doesn't for most of my friends either, who are into
Aphex/Squarepusher....I can understand why, but for some
reason I really enjoy listening to their noise. :D

Yeah, like I said-don't expect anything accessible.

My albums in the post with 26 remixes ! i cant wait !
How have the sounds come on from the last album ? i heard
they have done some major tweeking with there kit.
the structure may be not to different but sound is important
to them .

I think what is different with Autechre is that when you
listen to their album the melodies etc aren't immediately
apparent. The loudest theme in the track is what you are
meant to let wash over you while you pay attention to the
quieter softer melodies which often hide in the background.

i like other artists alike autechre which is even more weird
:)

Actually the sounds that have been used are very similar to
Confield and Gantz Graf it is actually the structure of the
track they have paid the most attention to.

It is a lot more rythmic than Confield was.

cool, i love the gantz graph sounds, that low acid bass bit
rocks.

It's more complicated, but the melodies aren't as nice as
Confield I've decided. Like in V-Proc-wtf is that stupid
major tune comming in at the end, against those minor synth
flourishes all about? It sounds awful lol...not ALL of the
album is my cup of tea at the moment, but there are some
breathtaking moments in there.

weirder in what way?

in what ever way you decide, i 'spose...
i mean... i can't think of anything as unorthodox and
innovative as autechre... but i'm interested in who you
think is weirder, cause weird is often wicked, and i'm
always on the lookout for wicked...

if by weird, you mean interesting and strange, i'd have to
say coil. but then again, that's my opinion and you don't
have to agree with it. :)
i like when the one guy sings - reminds me of the doctor
from star trek voyager, when he played that swamp
witch-thing in that movie 'legend'.

lot of really interesting industrial-type stuff... i really
like Download

innovative...

ha ha very funny (and incredibly flippant)... but no,
really... i'm curious: what are you thinking of when you say
you know of weirder... i'm sure you have 2 or 3 artists in
mind... please share

offline tolstoyed from the ocean on 2003-04-07 17:40 [#00637460]

i was more thinking of why you consider autechre weird...
i've heard plenty of weird sounding music (mostly by
japanese musicians)...

offline jenf from Toronto (Canada) on 2003-04-07 17:42 [#00637462]

yoko ono is weird..

offline DeadEight from vancouver (Canada) on 2003-04-07 17:44 [#00637465]

i guess i mean weird as in alien... there are not many
artists who create soundscapes even remotely similar to
ae... many try, i know, but i can't think of anything that
sounds like confield or draft...
as for the japanese... their culture is very peculiar, i
must admit... i don't mean this in a negative sense... it's
just very different... the movies, the music, etc.
i have to hear more Acid Mothers Temple...

anyone heard Deerhoof? they're actually from San Fran, but
i'm pretty positive that the lead singer is of japanese
descent... and it's just really weird and good...rock that
is...

you could try koji asano, otomo yoshihide, asa-chang and
junray
and definitely YOSHIHIRO HANNO

and if you're after soundscapes check jan jelinek & computer
soup's "improvisations and edits in tokyo"

i think i have 2 by crunch...
you look like a fan of schematic to me... have you heard
Dino Felipe at all? is it any good (if so)?

i fuckin love the jan jelinek computer soup album...
which otomo yoshihide album is coolest? i've been trying to
find stuff on soulseek by yoshihide, with limited success so
far

Dino felipe has the detail but definately lacks the skill to
control it. It loops and isn't as interesting as the
controlled complexity of, say, 8000 bc. Tracks made by
people here are better than dino felipe. www.zebox.com/call
for example.

awesome as well)

and glad to see people that are into jelinek!

dela rosa and asora have a few tracks on schematic
compilations. I think they also made stuff under prefuse 73.

actually have the jeck/yoshihide/tetreault composition on my
