this is awesome...
sit down stand up, 2+2=5, wolf at the door
currently Dlin more, and it's a cd i'll definitely invest
in...it idn't half the electro people makin it seem
like...hell, 2+2=5 sounds more like pablo honey than
anything they've done SINCE pablo honey

none of it sounds like pablo honey, in the key sense that
it's all WAY BETTER.

oh yeah, and i'm itching for the final release of this as
well.

I dont even have Pablo Honey/dont really want it--I dont
like what Ive heard of it very much. :)

i don't think any of it's more guitar driven than ok
computer... but some of it does have a bit of a bends feel.
My favorite song is still backdrifts... but 2+2 / go to
sleep have been getting me quite good. The whole album gets
me good... I'm glad it still stands up compared to the live
versions that were making the rounds at the end of the
summer.

yeah, pablo honey just really dated soundin imho
my personal fave (in that i have listened to it a billion
times already and i'm listenin to it yet again at this
moment)
sit down stand up
i hope they release that for airplay, it deserves it and,
imo, it would move CDs off the racks even faster than
idioteque or karma police before that

i liked sit down stand up a lot, but i hope they do some
things with it for the final version... the first live
recording i heard of it was much better. Also, I'm working
on this in relation to sit down stand up:

sit down stand up

I like Kid A better than any of the other albums. I dont
like some of the things on The Bends, even though it was the
first one that I liked.

Im so excited about the new one--Ive only gotten to listen
to it once; Im always so busy with Spookyluke. :|

damn, that's awesome

i think what's throwin me off about 'sit down stand up' (by
"throwin me off", i mean catchin me off guard) is that i'm
already picturing a video for it...knowin radiohead though,
what's in my mind and what the potential video would be are
no doubt nowhere near the same

yes yes...'kid a' i think is the only one where i'm not
selective about the tracks i listen to

ok, now i must ask: where else besides file-sharing places
to get "hail to the thief"?
i'm havin small probs with getting "where i end and you
begin" and it turns out to be "there there"
maybe it's the other way around, but it's still the same
point: both those files are the same song, just with 2
different names
help!

i doubt you can get it anywhere. i have quite a long list of
'reliable' slsk users for things like this.
my 192k versions is consistent, you can grab it from we if
you want

i'm really lovin "backdrifts" and "sail to the moon" now
not to take anything away from "sit down stand up" though

its an excellent album technically, but i feel like they hit
their creative peak with ok computer - kid a. that period
defines radiohead for me, and everything afterwords is like
an extra gift.

i feel like that quite a bit actually...like kid a was a
somewhat forced effort (not to say it's bad in the least)

offline zaphod from the metaverse on 2003-04-07 20:38 [#00637645]

for me, ok computer will be a defining moment in music. what
radiohead have lost since then is the inspired genius behind
that album. thats not to imply that the albums following it
were bad. technically they are all excellent, and there are
moments in them that are some of my favorite on any record.
but as a whole i think radiohead have lost something. i
certainly don't want another ok computer, atleast not in the
musical sense. those days are over. what i want is another
ok computer in the creative sense, something as inspired as
that where they absolutely had to make it and it changes how
one listens to music. something sort of beyond music in
scope. thats how i feel about ok computer, but i'm one of
the fans who was around the day it came out to experience it
for the first time. i'm sure alot of people feel the same
way about kid a and amnesiac, or even hail to the thief. its
all a matter of when you began listening, and the
circumstances of that.
i'm still hoping they have something waiting for us. there
are alot of older songs written after ok computer on the
"hell tour" of 1998 that are among their best songs, and i'm
thinking they could make an amazing album out of those and
newer songs. it just has to happen naturally, so we'll see.
in the meantime i'll enjoy hail to the theif for what it is:
technically their best effort, but creatively only a
marginal work.

I don't think they'll ever match OK Computer. It'll take a
miracle for ANYONE to match it.

i haven't heard the leaked album but from the live
performances i think "where i end and you begin" and "sail
to the moon" are just as strong as the best tracks on ok
computer

thats not too far off actually. i just don't find them as
immediately gorgeous as anything on ok computer.
i am really happy with how where i end turned out though.
its got a very nice groove to it.
