The main problem I have with Draft 7.30 is that they feel "too much deconstructed, too fast into the tracks". I personally think Confield is their greatest, but I'm dissapointed this time. I found the reason why about 2 days ago.
There's great moments of ingeniosity and some incredible music. But on many tracks, they just deconstruct too much, too fast. Like, 3 minutes into the song and it feel like a completely different song then the start into something non-interesting. They almost feel ashame to bring up the interesting stuff and stick to it.
If you take the Chiastic Slide era or the second CD of TriRepetae++, you'll see that there's a moment, in the mid track portion of their song, where they do a transition, they let instruments go forward while the beat sometimes gets muted a little. That middle section is completely forgotten on Draft 7.30.
So you have great tracks like 6ie.cr that shiftes completely in the middle of the track, for no reason. Same for p.:ntil (though the transition takes a couple of beats).
The worse for me is reniform puls, which has an _incredible_ start. It's another one of those wow o_O tracks like PIR from EP7. Why do they fuck up the track by changing into a borefest at 02:22 ???? Why AE why?
Same for "Surripere". Of course, you can't expect AE to stick to that great flowing and melodic start. It feels too simple for them. But the end, omg it's so bad. It's 6 minutes of about the same thing. Of course AE often does that, but this time it's _not interesting_ at all.
imho ;)

Heh, thirdball is right, dude - in a couple months you'll be cueing up the songs halfway through so you can skip the "boring" parts and get right to the skullfuck parts.

I agree with ymenard. They're just experimenting, and their music is the sacrifice :(

Well I think that AE are aware of the price they sometimes have to pay to output their creative minds. They will alienate (and have, I guess) alienated about every person that listened to them at a point of their development as artists.

cool geeks use LAME!
lemme guide you as a pro 1337 geek:
use LAME with parameters "-q0 -v -V0"
to get the best quality
"-q0 --abrXXX" where XX is the bitrate you want to get if you want to define a bitrate
if you use anything other than that, you're lame and scientifically incompetent

this album leaves me on edge...they kick in with this really kick ass intro (reniform puls, 6ie.cr, and surripere are perfect examples of what i mean) and then it dissolves into something completely different. exactly what ymenard was saying. but maybe i just need listen and get used to these weird transitions...
this record sounds pretty confield-y to me, and i love confield, but i wish they'd take a huuuuge leap away from it style-wise...they seem to have changed it up more between albums before.

yeah, i don't think it sounds LIKE confield really.... maybe draft lives on confield's block and is on the same soccer team, but it is NOT that heavily related.

for me, the tracks on Confield all have their own seperate personality or mood and are generally clean and sterile but on Draft, they all seem to be in a similar mood and quite dirty and skanky.
I love Draft and I cant wait to get into it more, but to me it doesnt really sound like Confield

hah! dog shit, thats funny. i actually do like draft 7.30, no masterpiece, but enjoyable. that's my own personal feeling about it, and i don't give a shit (even if it is dog shit) if you don't like it. that's your decision!

i think that it's almost sort of their intention for some of their fans to not like the direction they go in.
you can tell they are not out to please anyone but themselves with their music, and i respect that. i think their music has grown and improved throughout their career, the more they alienate everyone.
you can dissagree with me, but you don't have to declare that their album "sucks ass" just becaue you don't like it.

Funny stuff, Cabbog... and true too.
My take on it all is that Ae use these nice intros just as a way to get you interested in a track but want you to stay with the track as it evolves. They've stated in several interviews that they're not interested in anything too predictable.
