i mean. when you make songs, you always make it perfectly for yourself, or do you sometimes make some tunes for a more listeners. i mean i have made a few songs yet, and i don't really like them so much. but some of my friends like it...

im no perfectionist, but when i like what im doing ill record it.
and it looks like this www.mp3.com.au/latenights/
i dont make music to please. i dont think thats best, it stagnates the process of experimenting. but yknow i think that if i like where im at then someone else will

I can't spent hours on something I don't like. What's inside comes out in the music you make. It's fun & good therapy and if some others happen to like it, the better. ;)

Sometimes I do not like my own productions though
= how they turn out when they're done...
Sometimes I then remix them, other times I just lost the feeling I had from the begining or got carried away in the wrong direction and can't find my way back, and then I might just aswell start on a new track.... that's how it is for me.

key_secret: that's exactly how it is for me too. Like you said there are so many directions u can go with the track that it makes my brain hurt. i'm too much of an perfectionist, i get too many ideas and don't know which is the right one to go along with

So true. You could fill 2 albums with just one track. :). And if you made your descision witch way to go, you're still doubting going along with it. :)
I also spent way to much time one one soundbit and in the end it always comes close to what I got in the beginning. :)
It's all a learning process I guess.

course, can't tell anyone in the car it's you, or, maybe only play it when you're alone :)

Yeah Kill I know what you mean. Especially when I write polyrhythms. I know the structure of the song, I know what to expect and how the song melds together, but I have to wonder if other people do as well when they listen.

The reason I began making stuff in the first place was to fill a void that I wanted filled.. to make a type of stuff that I could pop into my player and enjoy listening to .. in the process it bacame a much mreo involved process than I originally intended though. :(

it would be interesting for people to say 'i make my music for OTHERS', because how can you really know someone else? maybe if you make songs through your perspective of OTHERS - then that in itself would still be a bias, no?

nice question, I was just discussing with a musical m8 of mine, that when I make music it rarely feels like it's really "my kind of music" the way other artists can achieve that. Somehow I'm only sporadically able to create exactly my own musical flavor, so yes I guess I like some of my own music
