IDM philosophy

this is sort of inspired by the posts brought up regarding
an XLT-subculture & an IDM influence in rock.

what long term effects might IDM have in general in the
music industry? does IDM harbor a clear & present message?
should IDM be kept "underground" so as to protect it from
corruption by popular media and culture, or should it be
expressed freely and have the liberty to cast an influence
on the music industry? would it change culture and society
in general as well?

it's quite a broad spectacle. anyone else occasionally
ponder this?

ehhhh, tis why i mix intelligence with club-friendly
stuff...keep a good message, but get it to the people
somehow.
hell yeah i think it's got a message to send, as far as i
can see with all electro, IDM seems the most personal

that was the funniest reply since somebody said (in
reference to a weird picture of richard devine): "that looks
like some kind of rock monster" The exclamation point helped
it seem like a motto they'd teach with zest in an IDM
classroom.

The IDM philosophy is best quoted by zip masta zack, the
king of idm, from mp3.com "I only have one philosophy, if
you have a problem don't call me." His gay song was about
telephones or something. Unfortunately mp3.com's song
limitation makes it unavailable for listening.

don't know .. we get manipulated by media and our own little
"subculture" as well ... whether or not it will/should
influence music culture, i think to some extent it already
has. but its difficult to predict mods and fads ...

if there is a philosophy to idm - i'm with titsworth !

korben, I found a site that is totally target at getting
away from the media's information filtering process. It is
called www.memestreams.net I havn't used it yet, but will
whenever I get my own computer. It's creator seems
intelligent and funny. Consider the internet link for people
seeking employment in their corporation:

The Industrial Memetics Institute is looking for energetic,
intelligent, creative people who will do what they are told,
when they are told, and how they are told to do it.
You will send us your resume, along with a very carefully
crafted cover letter. We will throw it into the trash. We
will not respond. We will continue to insist that we have
open positions for which you are perfectly qualified, but we
will not respond. We will go before the United States
Congress and insist that we cannot fill the positions we
need to fill and that they need to change the law to make
things easier for us. We still won't respond to your resume.
This isn't about you. This is how we "negotiate" salaries
and raises with our existing employees.

However, if it does so happen that we DO actually want to
employ you, we will have our head hunters call you at your
current place of employment several times a day until you
succumb to our organization's needs.

Working at Industrial Memetics:

The most important thing for you to understand about working
at Industrial Memetics is our dress code. Our dress code is
business casual. This is because we don't want you to look
good, but we don't want you to be comfortable either. We
want the clothing you wear to be a constant reminder of your
status within society. You are not powerful, and you are not
free. The sooner you understand this the better off you'll
be.

Intellectual Property:

Be sure to include with your resume a signed statement
granting us all rights to any idea, invention, writing,
patent, or copyright which you may conceive, develop, or
produce at any time, even if we decide not to hire you. It
is important that you understand

understand that your mind is as much our property as the
cubicle we may decide to allow you to sit in.

IDM makes easily influenced people disregard music with soul
and melody.
it also opens up new worlds of music to people with open
minds.
