I have been trying to find these for a while...

If anyone has either of these 2 CD's, and would be willing
to sell them for the right $$$, please email me or let me
know... I would be happy to make a generous offer for them.

Thanks :)

$120++

I suspect quite a few of those POS sold on Ebay were
fakes...The same guy kept selling it every month for over a
year...

And if you lost the auction, he'd email syaing he had
another copy, and do you want it...

kinda suspious...he's stopped now for some reason...

(not a bad money earner...press up 100 copies and they go
for $100 each...)...

Caveat Empore (sp?) and all that...

I think it is caveat emptor.
But you are right, I reckon there are loads of fakes/cons on
ebay.

I lost on something on ebay recenlty then got an email from
someone unconnected saying they had another copy to sell
and would sell it to me privately (not through ebay).
Obviously I wasnt trusting this, but out of curiousity I
asked for a tracklisting for the record.. He never replied.
Some thieving bastard trying his luck..

yep..you have got to be careful on there...

That said, 99.9999% of my purchases have been perfect &
honest...with some real nice people to deal with...

I don't like dealing with shops who sell stuff on ebay; they
do tend to be a bit money hungry, which kinda detracts from
the feel of Ebay for me...

I still find record shops & record fairs to be great places
to pick up stuff...you aren't bidding aginst the entire
world in those situations so prices are a lot more
sensible...Ebay has had a huge effect on the price things go
for...

And I doubt anyone could sell AFX/AE/BoC rarities for such
stupid money outside of EBay...

Jand, I havent been to a record fair for years - is there
much good IDM stuff to be had at these kind of things?

I imagine them as they were ten years ago - old blokes
selling Bon Jovi and Queen picture disks...

hehe...yep, they are still pretty much the same...same dodgy
blokes with weird Clash collections & even weirder
girlfriends...:)...

Nick Hornby got that whole record store lit thing down real
well...we all know (or are) people like that...

They are pretty regular around my way..Seems to be once a
month or so but I seldom go as I'm alway too tempted to buy
stuff I can't really afford...

But I think I should start making the effort...would be cool
to pick up some stuff I can pass on...(I don't like making
money off of friends, which is what I'd count anyone here
as...)...

I'll have a hunt on the net and see if I can find the site
for the company that runs the local one as I know they tour
around various locations...

Pity I don't have more ready cash but I'll have a look and
If I see anything I know people would want, I'll see what I
can do....

Thanks for the link.. I will check it out.

I am sure there will be a lot of grateful people on this
site if you find any IDM bargains among the Bevis Frond and
Pink Floyd rarities...

I wonder how much my original Prodigy 12" What Evil Lurks is
worth nowadays...I think they re-released it a couple of yrs
back but I remember reading in Mixmag at one time that it
was changing hands for 250 quid...

Even I'm tempted to get rid for that kind of money...depsite
it being a real personal memento of that whole early essex
rave scene...

(Leeroy was on TV again last night...IT STILL weirds me out
to see someone you grew-up with being such a
celebrity...still a fucking nice bloke as well; unlike
certain other members of the band who have forgotten where
they come from, mentioning no names, of course.......)

You dont know a lad called Tony do you?

Used to be designer / stylist for THe Prodigy in their early
days - also from Chelmsford. Not seen (or thought about) him
for years but you mentioning early Prodigy remined me of
him, thought you might know him.

Check out the wants list from the website jand gave above.
This is exactly the kinda stuff that's for sale at every
record fair I've ever been to! Once I found a Global
Communication Promo 12", but that's about the only decent
electronic record I've evr found at one of these things.

Progressive/60's/70's rock lp's - especially uk labels such
as harvest,deram,swirl vertigo,dawn,reaction,pink
island,fontana,neon...etc

Punk/new wave/mod 7" - especially small time bands such as
cigarettes,bee bee cee,fast cars,first steps,kidda
band,knife edge,no way...etc

Jazz lp's - especially late 60's/early 70's such as john
taylor,john surman,henry lowther,howard riley...etc
Folk lp's - especially nick drake,trees,spriguns,cob,back
alley choir,trader horne,fuschia...etc

NWOBHM - especially obscure bands such as marquis de
sade,anthem,tyrant,high
treason,ricochet,sapphire,mithrandir...etc

60's items - nice clean copies of singles and albums by the
beatles,stones,pretty things,small
faces,kinks,artwoods,shyster,wimple,winch...etc
Programmes/handbills - especially nice clean condition from
late 60's to late 70's such as beatles,pink floyd,black
sabbath,u2,led zeppelin,hendrix,abba,rush,who....etc.

Foreign releases - always looming for obscure releases
especially rock/punk on 7" from unusual countries such as
thailand,rhodesia,india,turkey,chile,peru,angola...etc

small world or what.. but yeah I think I know the guy you're
talking about...but haven't seen him in years..(Probably in
London, I would think, anyone with any sense gets out of
Essex as soon as they can...it's a bit of cultural
desert..)...

(weird thing was, I was just gonna ask you if you knew an
american guy called Adam Greenfield...he's a good friend
who's currently living in Tokyo; runs V-2.Org... )...

I have both releases. GAK is rather a poor record but "The
philosophy of sound and machine" is one of the greatest
techno records of all time! Not for sale, but i'm prepared
exchanging CDR's.

"Greatest techno records of all time.."..

It's good but certainly not THAT good...Just outta interest,
what do you like so much about it?....

offline artemis from Ghent (Belgium) on 2003-04-01 04:50 [#00626903]

Come on, it was the wickest record when it cames out more
than 10 years ago. I feel a lot of nostalgia for that time.

Try also to get all early releases on applied rhythmic
technology (A.R.T.). Those records are soooooooooo
essential.

Agreed on the A.R.T. front. Shame they're so hard to find
these days. Although not bragging or anything, but I did
manage to pick up a copy of the Phenomyna 12" with the Black
Dog remix (ART5.2) recently for £5.99!
Happy days!!

Yeah, I hear ya..I feel the same nostalgia for those times,
same as anyone who went through them I think...(I do try to
stop myself as the irony of being nostalgic for such a
futuristic form as Techno isn't lost on me...)..

I think that's why I love this kind of music so much...it
constantly re-invents itself...

Definately the early ninethies was a bomb of very innovative
and essensial records, i was a detroit-freak at that time.

Is there somewhere else on the net that it may be possible
to get some rare IDM records aside from Ebay? I'd love to
get a copy AB2 but they seem to sell for more that they are
worth. Any ideas?

check out that link I posted above...

or have a google for vinyl dealers, most will send stuff
overseas etc so the worlds your lobster..;)....AB2 should be
pretty easy to find...
