What's the best way to quickly contact Boards of Canada or their lawyers to get permission to use some of their songs in a documentary for a class project?

Is this going to be broadcast or used commercially (ie to make money)? If not, I wouldn't worry about it.

i second that. people borrow music all the time for school projects. the artists when they hear about it are always honored, not mad.

It's for a college TV station, non-commercial. However, we're also doing a promotional peice for a non-profit organization called the Sciencenter, which will be shown in othe rmuseusm.

my bro used Sq. Pusher & Aphex trax for a class project he did in his junior high school year. i wouldn't worry about it. besides, i doubt the likelyhood of getting a response from a a commercial artist would be high.

True, but my professor told us we should contact them anyway since we're supposed to be learning the legal & budget aspects of a production.
