I really can't "understand" this style of music.
I just bores me,it doesn't seem listenable at all.Theres no
real emotion in it,I need emotion.
Or am I just not listening hard enough?

is there any glitch artist in particular you dont get?

I agree there's virtually no emotion in glitch. I like it
though. It's as if the lack of a regular rhythm forms a
whole new rhythm. It's hard to explain for me....

Tracks like Recursion (Jega) and the glitchy last 30 secs of
Lentic Catachresis give me goosebumps. Weird isn't it?

I'm think of some tracks of Æ,Ep7

Grantz Graf is definatly glitch.

I think Fennesz - Endless Summer and Jim O'Rourke
- I'm happy, and I'm singing, and a 1, 2, 3, 4
are
emotional...

Wait a minute....

Tonepusher, you don't happen to mean glitchCORE, right? Cos
that's entirely different stuff....V/Vm does it and it's
very odd and fucked up.

its not emotional, but its pretty good!

I'm thinking of æ

hmm
not much clearer..
i mean ive got Jim O'Rourke
- I'm happy, and I'm singing and ive got gantz graf as well
but i dont see what's so similar about them.. one's kind of
clicky ambient and the other's like a full on knife attack..
imho..

I just don't understand them,its just blips,no real
construction.
I think they're (ae and others) are just playing with its
listeners, seeing how much shit they'll painfully listen
too.

btw:This is my 1600 post!I missed my 1500.

AMG's definition :

As computer-aided composition slowly eclipsed the
traditional analog approach to crafting electronica, the
palette of possible sounds soon widened immensely, resulting
in the advent of the clicks + cuts style in the late '90s.
No longer was the artist confined to sequenced percussion,
synth, and samples, but rather any imaginable sound,
including the uncanny realm of digital glitches — a
possibility that was quickly exploited by a generation of
youths with the means to create entire albums in their
bedroom with only a computer and the right software. Where
early-'90s analog-toting pioneers such as Aphex Twin and
Autechre had envisioned the quickly diminishing areas of
electronica that had not yet been explored, and,
simultaneously, another insular group of pioneers led by
Robert Hood and Basic Channel stripped away the elements of
electronica that had ultimately become little more than
ineffective cliché, a second wave of computer-armed
protégés studied these aesthetics and used software to
create microscopically intricate compositions harking back
to these pioneers. First championed by the ideological
German techno figure Achim Szepanski and his stable of
record labels — Force Inc, Mille Plateaux, Force Tracks,
Ritornell — this tight-knit scene of experimental artists
creating cerebral hybrids of experimental techno,
minimalism, digital collage, and noise glitches soon found
themselves being assembled into a community. Though artists
such as Oval, Pole, and Vladislav Delay, among others, had
initially been singled out by critics beforehand, Mille
Plateaux's epic Clicks_+_Cuts compilation first defined the
underground movement, exploring not only a broad roster of
artists but also a wide scope of approaches. The artists on
the compilation, along with a small community of visionary
artists in the software-savvy San Francisco/Silicon Valley
area of California led by the Cytrax label, soon found
themselves as the critically hailed leaders of yet another
electronica movement. It wasn't long

...before the clicks + cuts aesthetic began being bred with
existing genres, resulting in endless variations on the
aesthetic such as MRI's click-driven house and Kid-606's
glitch remix of N.W.A.'s "Straight Outta Compton."

glithc artists

Phoenecia - brownout album... extremely emotional and
organic glitch

Some Kid 606 is glistch and i find quite emeotional ... "PS
I love you" ep for example.. Force Inc

Oval has lovely glithy rhythmns too.......

i think mostly glitch is about rythmns, layersing, buildups
etc and the ones i like get right under my skin.

it doesnt make you feel anything. sure. but thinking that
was the intention of the artist (for you not to like it) is
as bad as thinking you understand what someone's lyrics are
about, or thinking that little smile the newsreader gives at
the end of every broadcast is just for you...

There are some incredibly shitty glitch music out there.
Ganz Graf being a prime example.

One great glitchy track is C/Pach, also by Autechre.

maybe it's just that you don't dig it... I mean, I find some
glitch very emotional... so, it's not that the genre isn't
emotional, it's just you don't find it to be... the song
Geometry by Jega is beautiful!

i like glitch music, but not full on glitch noise stuff
without melody or beats.. i like gantz graf, at first i
didnt because when i heard it on the radio i didnt notice
that it was a pattern, but after i bought it and watched the
video everything made sense.. but i dont like full glitch
wankery tracks like bine..

although rettic ac, glitch or not, is fucking awesome..

glitch is the sound eqiuvalent of the emotion, of the
reality, only minimalised in its form and looped to remind
you.....oh god....i like it soooooo

listen to oval's ovalprocess and ovalcommers then formulate
your opinion about glitch music, because that's the
pinnacle... i don't think stuff like fennesz is "glitch" in
the purest sense, what with the actual acoustics etc. :)

The tracks on HAB2 (every day, arched maid via rdj) - could
these be described as glitch?
