i liked pulp fiction...but he specifically wasn't the reason
why i liked it, nor do i think he made it good, anyone could
have played his part.

i hate it when you watch those crap shows like ET. and
Access and they claim how he's re-invented himself...what
shit.

gwyneth paltrow really hasn't been in anything worth a fuck
besides se7en.

as for nic cage, the debate is over after you have seen 8mm!
the scene where he is cringing and grunting over that porno
is hilarious..i don't know who to blame, him, or the
director for leaving the scene in the film.

penelope cruz is obnoxious as hell too i think. i'll give
her the movie blow though, because she's supposed to be a
bitch in it. she pulls it off remarkably. but anyone in
vanilla sky automatically gets two thumbs down from me!

hilary swank sucks too. i haven't seen her boys don't cry
thing, but i did see her in insomnia, and she was as bad as
the rest of the movie.

While i agree John Travolta is not a great actor, i disagree
that "anyone could have played his part" in pulp fiction.
Casting perfect people for roles is one of Quentin
Tarantino's strongest suits. casting John Travolta was a
stroke of genius which was illustrated by Travolta's
subsequent return to the "A list" of actors. For example,
the scene where Vincent Vega and Mia Wallace go to Jack
Rabbit Slim's could not have been played by any actor for
one huge reason. Jack Rabbit Slims was a restraunt filled
with American Pop Icons; Humphry Bogart, Buddy Holly, Mimi
Vandoren and, HELLO??, John Frickin Travolta! His iconic
presence created an irony in the role of the aging hitman
which was a critical element in the appeal of Pulp Fiction.
He was the quintessential cool killer.

but after that, yeah i agree, john travolta sux.

eh, i still think any butthole could have filled his
shoes...i'm sure there are other 'icons' to play the part.
although the one part that no one else but J/t could play
was that alien in Battlefield earth with the big pig tails
hangin out his nose...i think that really shows his human
side.
