Cheap Wine

I'm on a cheap wine kick. I'm looking to become a
connoisseur of plonk.

I'm looking for wine that can be had for $10 Canadian or
less. Okay, I'll go as high as fifteen. That's cheap, baby!

Right now I'm sampling something called La Payse - Syrah &
Grenache. Pretty damn good - nice body that doesn't come
apart into different layers of flavor, but a tiny bit too
bitter in the finish perhaps.

I also like a humble French table wine called Cuvee Saint
Pierre.

Yeah in moderation... we're not talking a gallon of
thunderbird in a single sitting here. It's a health thing.
Yeah, that's the ticket. Real healthy.

Leaky: never actually tried Blue Nun. Is it memorable?
There's an advertising campaign in there somewhere... "You
never forget your first Nun."

Concha y Toro! That's Chilean. Good stuff, and cheap. And I
named one of my favorite tracks after it.

Heh, I only know of Thunderbird by reputation, not by
experience. I think I first saw it referred to in Mad
magazine as something the homeless would drink.

I haven't gotten around to the Spanish wines yet... tried a
Chilean red a while back and liked it.

Generally speaking, any wine with an animal motif is to be
avoided.

My fav wine is the danish Kirchberg (not sure if that's the
name... but I assume you know what I mean)...
Cherrywine about 15%... I mix it with Brämhults
Orangejuice, and it tastes sweeeeet =)

Thunderbird is horrific.. THe first time I ever got so drunk
I barfed it was after drinking Thunderbird. Awful awful
stuff..

In Japan tax on alcohol from shops is almost non existent -
so all booze is very cheap (except in bars) you can get a
really nice bottle of imported gin, vodka, whisky whatever
for less than 10USD.

But best of all are cheap wine brands Mon Frere or Bistro -
Japanese wine available in red or white and costing less
than two dollars a bottle! One for the homeless for sure...

If you want to spend a bit more Chilean reds are nice (and
good value), I like the Ernst and Juilo Chardonnay and New
Zealand wine called Cloudy Bay. Livverly.

i always go for chilean wines. i don't buy wines with
suspicious animal parts in them (most of the wines have cow
brain or bone powder in them). so that usually leaves me
with GATO NEGRO and GATO BLANCO, both exellent chardonnays,
especially gato blanco special chardonnay. those are cheap
wines so they cost around 8 euro (finland has probably the
most expensive alcohol in the world)

For a bottle of wine that really hits the spot there's only
one in the west of scotland. Buckfast tonic wine. You have
to shop around but you can purchase a bottle of the wine for
as cheap as £4.19. It's so famous in the west of scotland
that people go into the off-license and just say "Boattle o'
wine" and the person behind the counter knows exactly what
they are asking for.

How cheap are we talking about here?

The liquor stores around here stock up on a magnificent wine
called Cisco. I prefer the "Red" flavor, before 2002
or nothing I say! It has a lovely bouquet that hints of
kool-aid and colt45. The taste on the palet is almost too
complex to describe, so you should find out for yourself. I
frequent a store that sells them for only $1.99 a 16 ounce
bottle. Theres the 24 oz. variety but thats almost too much
refined taste for one person to knock back alone. I suppose
the 16oz. bottle is as overwhelming in the same aspect,
seeing as that the side label reads "This is not a beer.
4 servings per bottle.
" With a alcohol content of 40
proof, I'm sure they're preaching the truth. Revered for
almost 3 years and still one of my favorite choices; the
Cisco is truely a noble tribute to grand art of
winemaking. This particular wine is only rivaled in taste
and potency by the likes of noble Night Train and the
much celebrated Thunderbird.

I give it: ****

All my wine in my wine rack is starting to look quite cool
as dust has settled on all the labels on the bottles and I'm
making a point of not dusting it.

Ernest & Julio Gallieo is nice cheap wine and their rosés
are particularly good for the price. Shame I've run out...
my rack is a bit empty at the moment.

No. It's just that every bottle of wine that i've loved
along the way has been a screw-cap.

Buckfast
Thuderbird blue
Thunderbird red
Elderado
Md 20/20 ( a plethora of varieties)
Ravers

Then came along those fucking alcopops and they all
disappeared. I hate fucking alcopops. It all started with
hoopers hooch. Bastards. Give me back my scummy wine!

Mad dog is excellent wine. I found a bottle of vintage
Strawberry Hill in my grandmother's garage. Ill save that

Oh my God MD 20/20 is evil... many a night had on the
strawberry / orange variety. I used to drink Thunderbird as
well, until I graduated to the stronger red label and spewed
so hard if I even see a bottle now I have to fight back the
nausia.

It is worth noting that MD, Thunderbird and Bucky are
fortified wine, which is why it tastes like flavoured
sherry.

and ALKO, finnish alcohol monopoly)

wines are made clear with gelatine and isinglass, casein and
blood powder.

I went on several goon binges ($10 casks, half the time str
aight out of the bag) last year or the year before.

I had no money, only about $30 australian a week which I
spent on alcohol and cigarettes.

It's actually not too bad, wine. I'd drink a lot more of it
if it weren't so socially.....fruity/girly/poor
