After the longest break they've had since 1993, Radiohead
are geared and ready to show the world what they've got up
their sleeves for album number six, which is still
untitled.

In late August 2002, the band joined long-time Radiohead
producer and "unofficial sixth member" Nigel Godrich in
Ocean Way Studios in Los Angeles to begin work. They spent
about 2 weeks there and then flew back to Oxford to continue
recording in their own studio.

The band wrapped up recording in January and began mixing.

So, how did the sessions go? We've heard some of the horror
stories about how the band almost broke up during the
recording of both Kid A and Amnesiac. That wasn't the case
this time. In interviews, various band members expressed
their enthusiasm about how things were going. Phil: "I don't
think we've ever felt so self assured in the studio. This
time no shit hit the fan. And Thom's voice has been
incredible. That's the stand out element for me. He's
reminded us that he's in a league of his own."

What will the new album sound like? Well, we kinda got a
hint of that last Summer when Radiohead toured Portugal and
Spain and premiered a lot of new songs. Ed: "To me, this
record feels like the culmination of the best bits of The
Bends, OK Computer, Kid A and Amnesiac." Ed also had this to
say: "Guitars? Yup, there are a few. In fact there’s a bit
of everything. It’s sounding really good. It’s like
'We've honed our thing, we've done our thing' so what we're
doing feels like the right thing to be doing now. As vague
as I am."

What songs will appear on the new album? That we don't know
yet. However, Radiohead premiered many new songs last Summer
and most of them are expected to make it on the album:

There There
Scatterbrain
Wolf at the Door
Lift
Up on the Ladder
Punch Up at a Wedding
Sail to the Moon
Myxamatosis
We Suck Young Blood
Sit Down, Stand Up
Where I End and You Begin
Go to Sleep
2+2=5
I Will
Go to Sleep
I Froze Up
Good Morning Mr. Magpie
How abou

the title? What's the album going to be called? We were told
back in December that the band were throwing around various
album titles and two that stuck out were 2+2=5 and Are You
Listening? Thom recently said that the title was neither one
of these so at this point, we don't know.

Can we expect the album to be released soon? Please? Though
nothing has been officially announced concerning release
dates, we've been led to believe that we can look forward to
a June 2003 release. Unconfirmed release dates are:

JUNE 09, 2003 - EUROPE

JUNE 10, 2003 - USA AND CANADA

that's what's been on there for at least a week now.

The first post is correct.

I think that tracklisting is a pile of crap.
There There should have opened and Go to sleep and Sit down
stand up should never have made it on there
Where is Up On the Ladder and Lift?

Arrg

Still, looking forward to it.

well, that tracklist takes the cake. put big ideas on there
and i can't think of a better album.
i'm interested to see how they'll pull of wolf from the door
as the closer, as it isn't stereotypically the radiohead
closing song, but i guess that should make it that much
better.
this albums going to be awesome.

what a bunch of wankers radiohead are.
they made some good albums, i'm not denying that, but
expecting their fans to pay £25 for a ticket to see them is
absolutely disgusting.
they should be ashamed.

i think the prices are because they dont go the route of
"sponsers" like carling who then insist that they sell only
thier product and have thier logo everywhere - and as
radiohead are fans of the "no-logo" book it makes sense .
i'd pay £25 quid if it kept those corporate cocksuckers out
of my gig

tits: I remember seeing an early version of "life in a
glasshouse" on the "meeting people is easy" video,. which I
"think" was recorded just after ok computer. the version on
the video was completely acoustic, but the one on the album
a few years later was really "old school jazz" and the live
versions of like "spinning plates" featured on the "I might
be wrong" cd is completely different to the album version
too,.. so I think that it's a fair assumption to say that we
can expect almost completely new songs opn this album

offline titsworth from Washington, DC (United States) on 2003-03-24 15:23 [#00613786]
Points: 14550 Status: Lurker

yea i love that version, it's quite different huh! not
totally acoustic.. it has a keyboard. but it's certainly
nothing jazz related.

what i wouldn't give for mp3's from some of those ok
computer tour soundchecks. some of those songs have never
been played live to this DAY! (eg: "last flowers till the
hospital" which is like "exit music" meets "CUTW").

oh wow, tons of good music to look forward to this spring..

i listened to the live versions of some of those tracks
constantly last summer

why is everyone complaining about $25 tickets? its probably
because of the venues they are playing
sigur ros tickets cost $30 up here, but they played at a
nice place
arent n*sync tickets like $50 or something?

offline titsworth from Washington, DC (United States) on 2003-03-24 18:33 [#00614060]
Points: 14550 Status: Lurker

$25 sadly isn't the same thing as 25 pounds... but i digress
because bands seldom have much to do with ticket prices
anyway. true, there are bands like fugazi and godspeed who
set maximum ticket prices in their contracts ($5 and $12
respectively; ask me to tell you the fugazi lollapalooza
story if you're interested), but tickets are set by
promoters and other types of managers. i don't think
radiohead, sigur ros, etc. charge too much; some of these
tours are expensive when you factor in all the lighting,
video equipment, etc., not to mention the huge # of ppl who
are needed to run a tour (not just the band and one
manager). most bands actually lose money touring, including
mogwai (see their site's q&a section) and most bands we
like/listen to. radiohead probably profit but that's more to
do with the fact that they can sell out venues than the
ticket price itself. anyway, unless RH start getting all
bloated like u2 with their $60+ tickets (or heaven forbid,
the rolling stones and barbara streisand) i say stop
bitching.

last flowers till the hospital? where did you hear this? i
was unaware it ever was recorded in any form at all.
and as for judging the album tracklist, i agree with you.
i'm sure radiohead are fully aware of how to track an album
of songs they wrote themselves, so wait till the album comes
out to pass judgement on song placement.
i think it looks ace though.

title. Yeah, about as "exclusive" as my a$$.

clicky

They also claim here to be the first to publish the
