Ninja tune

Ross from Can. on 2001-04-09 05:02 [#00002947]

what do you guys think of the label ninja tune? anybody like
amon? heard the newest xencuts?

Aron? from Canada on 2001-04-09 06:31 [#00002953]

I really like some of their stuff, but i'm not a big fan. I
bought Xen Cuts and was dissapointed, there are some good
tracks on there, but most are just rubbish IMO. I don't
particullarily like Amon Tobin either. Though, they still
have some really good artists like The Herbaliser, Mr.Scruff
and Animals on Wheels.

takeshi on 2001-04-09 17:13 [#00002975]

Wagon Christ just released a good one on Ninja Tune. Very
laid back.

780-fa(y-ghap) from Phasane on 2001-04-09 17:50 [#00002977]

spektr from sweden on 2001-04-09 21:31 [#00002985]

the coldcut/hexstatic track timber rocks big time...

Aron? from Canada on 2001-04-09 23:24 [#00002991]

Yeah I also like Wagon Christ and Coldcut. A little Kid
Koala ain't too bad either.

crapnose from Montreal on 2001-04-10 12:20 [#00003039]

i love Ninja Tune. Kid Koala's "Carpal Tunnel Syndrome" is
one of my favorite albums.

Ross from Can. on 2001-04-11 01:56 [#00003104]

the kid koala album is insane, i only heard it once at a
friends, but i really liked it..even though it flew circles
around my head, which is definitely a good thing

hexane from Melbourne on 2001-04-11 12:47 [#00003149]

lets not forget fink and mr. scruff - they're my two faves
from ninja

velocity_kendall from in here on 2001-04-11 12:56 [#00003151]

velocity_kendall from in here on 2001-04-12 09:27 [#00003273]

Trout are fresh water fish .

And have underwater weapons .

Earface from The United Kingdom of Great Britain on 2001-04-12 10:52 [#00003280]

uh.....Ninja Tune is phat. Amon Tobin is absolutely fucking
amazing, his neo-classical style definitely displays his
talent as one of the most innovative composers of the
post-modern era. Animals on Wheels is cool too, so is DJ
Vadim, the Herbaliser, CINEMATIC ORCHESTRA - yeah man, um,
DJ Food - Funk Fusion in a tee, Kid-Koala are reasonable if
not a little bit pussy. Cold Cut, on the other hand, are
absolute shite. One of my friends reckons that they are
'well like Aphex Twin' but I think that they are talentless,
overcheesy crap. They were responsible for the founding of
Ninja Tune however, but all the same - shut it.

velocity_kendall from in here on 2001-04-12 11:00 [#00003281]

Coldcut are well shite .

Although , i though Timber was quite funny . . .

Ross from Can. on 2001-04-13 00:46 [#00003336]

the coldcut tracks didnt appeal to me either, i wanna get
that cinematic orchestra cd, that track was really something
amazing

Rapax from Belgium on 2001-04-17 14:47 [#00003640]

Amon Tobin=Genius
Herbaliser used to be amusing, now they suck too.
I've seen Cinematic Orchestra live=boring as hell, in fact
it was exactly at that moment that everybody sat down in the
back, rolled their joints until Coldcut came up.
Coldcut=great show, quite a few good songs, some stink
however

Aphex Triplet from uk on 2001-04-17 19:13 [#00003667]

only really into Hexstatic, (still can't find there album!).
On there ninja tune site u can dwnld a demo of V-Jamm. A
program which u use to create ur own video choons, (like
hexstatic / coldcut.)

Ross from can. on 2001-04-18 02:32 [#00003702]

i bought the hexstatic album and didnt like it, i guess its
just not my type of music/way they do it...neat videos,
cliched' music Imo

Ross from can. on 2001-04-18 02:32 [#00003703]

oh, and i returned it and got mezzanine by massive attack
instead

Funki Porcini rocks my world...I am a not that big a fan of
a lot of other Ninjas though...Amon Tobin for one is hugely
over rated in my opinion..

Nacmat: I dig that track with Spannish MC, it's excellent.
BTW, all DJ Vadim is excellent, if very different from that
album.

Keyfumbler: Yes, try getting Amon's album as Kujo, called
"Adventures in Foam" and his album "Permutations" (although
all his albums are good). The sound is less jazz/fusion and
more film music jazz but the breaks are as intensive and
fun.

*note: it's spelled Cujo

personally i highly recommend the amon tobin album
'supermodified' followed by 'permutations'
