I'm listening to this album right now with my headphones on
and for the first time I notice how much I love the fuzzy
fab tone distortion on this album.
I love the everlasting sound of this album, too bad it's
very underrated.
Any opinions on this album? It's my favorite SP release
together with mellon collie & the infinite sadness.

You should, mellon collie is a great album. SP are good
musicians, too bad they split up.

what do you think of Zwan, i'm pretty impressed so far, i
like the single and a track i've heard off the album. I'd
get it if i didn't have so many other albums i want to get
:)

david pajo from zwan was in 2 excellent bands before this:
tortoise and slint. he played guitar in both. he also has a
solo project which has been around as long as those other 2
called papa m (sometimes aerial m)

i recommend: tortoise - standards
slint - spiderland
papa m - whatever, mortal

nope, soulseek isn't working. Starting it up makes my system
unstable.

machina 2 also has some good stuff on it but its kind of
inconsistent. machina has some excellent tracks like glass
and the ghost children, blue skies bring tears but a few of
em kind of annoy me (wound, try try try) but overall I like
it a lot and the artwork in the booklet is really good too.

Slint, Tortoise and papa m\aerial m is good too but Zwan
doesnt cut it for me; pajo is hardly noticeable on the
songs--i think he was just thrown in their for indie cred oh
well its still better than most stuff out there on the radio
etc.

yes there are a few annoying tracks on the album, but you
always find a couple of annoying tracks on SP albums. At
least one. But it's often overshadowed by amazing tracks.
I think adore is my least favorite album.

I love the new Zwan albulm

I HAVE IT

I dont believe in Corgans view which he totally pressed on
in that one song, which I love.

But this album is great, his songs are great, and very deep
in meaning...he knew what he was doing with this album

I ALSO HAVE

Machina II....that one is a bit extreme, I would definetly
have to be in the mood to listen to that album

machina is good, but i like machina ii better, very dirty
sounding, and some really hard rockin pumpkins! (see dross,
cash car star, white spider, lucky 13, etc...)

machina is hit or miss for me.

Just doesn't hold up to SD or MellonCollie. I don't know if
I expected it too, but well, I dunno.

Mary Star of the Sea was a dissapointment for me as well, so
maybe my tastes have just changes?

WOW.

well i can't expect more than this on an electronic-based
message board, but The Pumpkins are my favorite band, and
have been for years now...Billy has got to be the best
conventional songwriter I've heard in my life...

And anyone bashing Zwan for so-called poppiness, keep in
mind if you were writing sad space songs for 13 years, you
might want to cheer up some too. And if anyone wants to
really know Zwan, look up their boots from the past year or
so...its much different than the record.

interesting to see people with machina as their first
pumpkin album. cause among the fans machina is slagged.
deservedly so, to an extent, but there are some pretty
tracks on it. machina is the new pumpkins whereas everything
before that is old pumpkins, and thus rated much more highly
by fans. if you like machina, try to get a hold of the
Rotten Apples greatest hits 2 disc edition. the second disc
on that one contains mostly unreleased adore/machina era
tracks.

To be perfectly honest I d say Machina is one of the better
Pumpkins albums. Combined with Machina 2 and the Machina
EP's its great. So there.

MIDGET IN THE HAT

well it's certainly the most ambitious album. whether it
lives up to its pretentious background story is a matter of
opinion.

if you're new to the pumpkins and want to find out more,
better not go to netphoria, cause any machina appraisal will
be met with instant flaming, especially if it's coming from
a 'newbie'. smashing pumpkins mb talk ruined lots of good
tracks for me, anyway...
