it has more in it than meets the ear at first earsight...
obviously, it just sounds like silly noise to most people -
for the structures in it are "buried" in the swirls of
noise.
but for some people, it is enjoyeable if you know how to
handle it.

in fact it is just like the messy tracks in Go Plastic, like
Greenways Trajectory, My Fucking Sound, etc. (do you like
those), but harder to get into...

usually, i listen to Merzbow when i'm in a fucked state of
mind, or (more often) when i don't want to listen to "real"
music, and not silence either. when i want really *abstract*
music.

i guess you can compare noise music to some minimalist
contemporary art: to most people it is charlatanism,
everyone could do it, but to some it is not... maybe they
are charlatans who just make noise easily then record and
sell it for cash, maybe they are real artists which most
people just don't get. maybe it's a bit of both.

i don't think you should listen to merzbow when you're
fucked up. that's not the best music for relaxing.

besides, i think that this music is somehow interesting. i
made a few tracks like these for myself. i always thought:"
hey, i get a sample, throw it through 4 distorters and the i
make something". that was false. i think i used the most
time to make such a song of all songs i made. i just sat on
it hours and changed it...

I like some noise but not all of it...some of it is too loud
for me, I really like the idea of distorted voices used in
masonna's albums and I like the variations of merzbeat. I
havent heard a whole lot but I do find it very interesting
and like some of it no matter what most people say about it.

sadist > i'm not looking for relaxing music when i'm in such
a state... i try to accompany my feelings with music, to get
a kind of catharsis, rather than to change them totally.
(well... most of the time.)

maybe it is wrong.

i don't know.

i don't think this is good for you. such music can make your
feelings getting worse. maybe you even try to destroy
something...

you can't be serious :O

... i like a bit of noise every so often. some of the genre
is more structured, some less. i like merzbow's "a taste of"

i am serious. when you listen to merzbow, you feel like
"destroy !@#@$"
you even start to like it and you wanna make some noise
then.

Janksi noise is the shit, speedranch and massona do great
collabs. it doesnt always have to be so extreme. Noise can
be minimal. like Francisco Lopez.

I really like Speedranches tracks. But what ive heard from
Massona was shit.
Cant risk destroying my ears with that stuff even if i
wanted to.

the thing with noise is that people seem to group it under
the
high concept == bullshit
banner. When not all of it is high concept or bullshit.

This isn't helped by the people who make crap noise who seem
to think that
bullshit == high concept.

I think merzbow is a lot of fun though.

don't know whether Janek Schaeffer and the likes would be
considered noise music, but his set on Sonar last year was
awesome.

this dude, sitting in the middle of the crowd, with his
two-armed turntable, loads of guitarfx's and a piece of
paper, outlining the concert...

noise music.......there's a lot of it out there. i deal with
NOISE pollution everyday i work....and there are times that
MUSIC is the last thing i wanna hear, i prefer the sounds of
silence a lot of times.......but music/or noise if you
prefer can LIFT the spirit!

a recent concert i went to had the group BLACK DICE, which
All Music decribed as NOISE........i found it to be
beautiful tho, especially the drums.......whats noise to one
is MUSIC to another =0)

*geeeee i type too much* T hee

Merzbow, Fluxion, and such.... Well, I wouldn't describe it
as noise. But , i wouldn't know what to call it myself, if
not music... It can get you in quiet a Trance you know. I
don't dislike it. But sometimes, it;s too much

its all about moods....
what is triggered in each individual when he listens to it
...
i do sometimes see "noise" music as a pisstake...especialy
when theres loads of pretencious bollocky talk about works
like satanstornade....
i dont see it as modern at all...sounds quite retarded

the only "noise" music that I liked was that build up part
in "the beauty of being numb"

Many people have a very strict definition of music. In my
definition, music is self expression in sound form. It
doesn't have to have musical notes, or conform to music
theory to be music in my opinion. Noise can communicate
emotion too. There are some great CDs which some people
would consider just noise. I really love Download "Furnace"
and Isolrubin bk (which is really Lustmord) Crash Injury
Trauma is really good, even though many people would
consider it noise.

Yeah I'm one of those who considers noise unmusical, just
imho, I say it's sounds and not music. for me all music is
sound but not all sound is music.

and if a tree falls in the woods, yes it does make a sound,
even if noone is around to see it.
