I've been listening to this (ep?) a bit,and I was wondering
why Ae used no effects on most tracks, like they could of
used a bit of chorus/flange,feedback ect just to give it
some texture.
Or is that the point?Because to me it sounds "flat",its hard
to explain.
Its doesn't grab my attention,it sounds mono.

release....automatic pilot stuff

ep7... it's one of my favorite ae release. The cover and
artwork is very texturised and so are the tracks on it.
Highly texturised imo and that's what makes the album so
strong. If they would've made an album with lots of delay
and chorus tracks and a few texturised (or like you said
'flat') tracks, those tracks would not have come out well.
It's the whole texture of the album that makes it a strong
release I think.

I find it hard to listen to Autechre lately, its too
challenging.I used to think like that about V-snares too,but
Mr.snares is pure genius. It doesn't take as long for his
music to "click".

I don't feel texture on the album (apart from the plastic cd
cover, has anyone noticed that frosted effect?)

You can't really notice the frosted effect on that
picture, unless you have the cd in your hand.

yeah, but ep7 has been out in 1999... it's a bit strange to
see an album 'come back' like this.

Try and keep the subject of war out of my topics
please, thats why i'm posting so many music related topics.

Thank you.

that was a bit exaggerated don't you think. I was only
making a point here, it's better to see a couple of ep7
topics than a million threads about war.

i have to be in a right mood to appreciate ep7- sometimes i
think that it is only a inferior brother of "confield".

Yes and again this topic features the word "war".
So now its a million and 1 threads about war.

"lots of topics about war lately....annoying ;)"

But you used a smiley,so that makes it ok :P

i like this release alot. good companion to lp5. i figure
its supposed to sound liek an etch-a-sketch. kind of an
automatic drawing.

yeah, just from the cover art and the kinda sketchbook
sound, i get that rough draft feeling. like a half-done
blueprint. i like it alot.

EP7's been growing on me again recently oddly enough! It may
sound like outakes or the "missing link" between LP5 and
Confield... but just listen to NETLON SENTINEL..! ;)

i see it as a more schizophrenic lp5.

I don't like EP7 all that much. I love Incunabula, but
thats prolly cause that was my first Autechre.
