I just picked this album after Nacmat constantly raving and
lauding it..and it's kinda nice..a bit more grrr and rock
has been added to his usual sound but the album flows pretty
well..and most of the tracks are quite catchy head nodding
material...

thanks Nacmat:)

rawk indeed there's the entire chilli peppers playing here
and there on there..but Tricky's gruff vox just gives the
sound of these musos the balls Chilli Peppers stuff
lacks..good indeed..

hmm, i like that first juxtapose song a lot!
the rest is pretty lame, but that first song alone is well
worth having the album

angels is a close second....maxinquaye dont know..is just
too much of a good think if you know what I mean..got sick
of it..but it's an excellent album nonetheless...

yes and no...It's got some pretty ruff and tuff songs
too..black steel for one..but yeah..it's too catchy you tend
to play it a lot and then get sick of it..for long stretches
of time...

its been a while since i listened to tricky, i'll give a
listen to maxinquaye when i get home
but overal, i kind of dont like trickys albums as a
wholes-there's plenty of briliant songs on each album but in
most cases i dont like the whole album-except for the angels
with dirty faces

I am so glad flea.... this is a very special album... why?

well tricky´s best albums so far where the great maxinquaye
and premillenium tension, angels with dirty faces was good
too, but these were dark and heavy ambience... kind of
dificult to breath with.

blowback is sunny, catchy, sexy but still trickyish
its more comercial, yes, but for tricky the fact of being
comercial is really a revolution.
you can see the heaviness but now you dont want to die, now
you wanna fuck

blowback is a very good album, but also very lonely, it is
not the result of a process, it is an island in tricky´s
mind and in music panorama

well put

it's not the most adventurous (PMT has that honour)

but yeah it's very catchy and sexy

have to listen to it again to zone in on the strengths
weaknesses etc:)

really enjoyable

sorry guys but this album is terrible. i'm glad you're able
to enjoy it but frankly i'm surprised. i "like" almost every
album i hear cos i always look for the positives, but in
this case there are next to none. i like "evolution
revolution love" cos i used to be a Live fan but that's
about it. i guess he's not the same without drugs (he gave
up drugs and went vegan for this album and presumably after)
but i agree with theo, the trickster has completely fallen
off.

the first solo album is a masterpiece, the second was pretty
good, everything after has ranged from ok to bland. on
juxtapose there is one really dope song called
"contradictive" and on angels... there are about 3 or
4 really awesome songs.

also check out his "trickster european remix" he did for
Notorious B.I.G.'s "hypnotize" right before biggie died. the
night tricky found out he was shot he wrote "broken homes"
(which p.j. harvey sings) about him.

well tits, I respect your view a lot, a sI consider you a
very knower of music, but there is something I cant go
against, and its the fact that I enjoy that album, maybe its
my fault, but who cares... maybe some day I find out what
you already know

i dont think this change had anything to do with drugs...
i dont think he was addicted or anything
appernatly (so he sad) he had this health problems and was
fucked up for many years...

I agree with Nacmat..
It's a very entertaining album...but like I said it's only
on first listen..but for me generally Tricky's albums get
better with each listen so..that's a good thing..

no, enjoy it.. i don't mean to take enjoyment away from
anyone. i just wanted to say that me and a lot of tricky's
fans were disappointed with this album (his first totally
unredeeming album really) but if you enjoy it then that
should be all that matters.

imo yuxtapose is the really weak one... blowback was kind of
a comig back

I was so disappointed with Juxtapose that I stopped buying
Tricky...that's why I didnt buy Blowback till now..but upon
hearing it I was pleasently surprised..a far superior album
to Juxtapose..

Maxinquaye and PMT as soooo fucking incredible, it saddens
me to hear recent Tricky :( BTW, does anyone have the
Product of the Environment cd he produced? English gangters
telling tales with music underneath...

98% of the albums out there.

here's some info i found (i hope its real)
With a track record of collaborations ranging from Alison
Moyet to the Red Hot Chili Peppers to RZA, Tricky always has
the ability to pull something unexpected of out the hat.
‘Vulnerable’, his second LP for Anti Records has a
provisional release date of May 19th, and was recorded in
Autumn 2002 in LA with his touring band.

Sounding a lot less muddled and unfocused than
‘Blowback’, this is about as near to the format of
‘Maxinquaye’ as fans are likely to get with someone as
contrary as Tricky. The signature sound of Tricky echoing
sweet female vocals is all over the LP. Though unconfirmed
at this point, his vocal sparring partner is an Italian
vocalist Constanza Francavilla.

The music, instead of the demo feel of the muddy loops and
dark atmospheres, is a much clearer and diverse production .
‘Dear god’ features acoustic instruments and live beats,
whilst at the other end of the scale ‘How High’ slams
with heavy rock guitars. First single is expected to be
‘Anti-Matter’

Tracklisting…
Stay
Anti-Matter
Ice Pick
Car Crash
Dear god
How High
What is Wrong
Hollow
Moody
Wait For God
Where I'm From
The Lovecats
Search and Survive

so far Five Days with Cyndi Lauper
and A Song For Yukiko..are these hidden gems..as well as
YOUR NAME..they could just about be on a WARP album..I mean
the other tracks are obviously big and catchy and fun out of
those
BURY THE EVIDENCE has some of the most chilling lyrics and
vocals I have ever heard on Tricky

i was loving tricky until juxtapose came out, and that one
sucked huge, sweaty balls, as did blowback. In my mind
nothing compares to the early material.
