music to interrogate by

(i think tolstoyed will probably find this topic soon
enough ;-))

This song has grown on me actually (jan jelinek avec the
exposures). At first i thought it was a bit (well
alot) repetitive, but i'm really beginning to like it
now. That constant rhythm becomes really hypnotic after a
while, and the jazzy melodies are just wonderful :-)

What album did you say this song is on?

wow, you always surprise me ;)
the song is from the nouvelle pauvrete-it was actually just
released...
but you should probably check it out first, because the
other tracks are not so much alike music to interrogate
by-though i like this oder stuff even better (you can find
it on kazaa or something, but if you'll have trouble finding
it, i'll make some mp3's)
ehm, and i better stop recommending music, before you start
spending all your money on music (like me) hehehe...

what is most surprising, is that you actually kept this song
for this long... :)

"the nouvelle pauvrete"

Hm... okay, thanks :-) It is just released under the name
"jan jelinek", or "jan jelinek avec the exposures"?

Well i don't really use kazaa or programs like it. Maybe
i'll just try to find it in a recordstore and listen to it
there first.

"ehm, and i better stop recommending music, before you
start spending all your money on music (like me) hehehe...
"

hehe, yeah, it's getting out of hand ;-) (and it's scary...
the pace at with you're buying music :-p). But i won't run
to any musicstores just yet. I'll just look around some
stores when i go out to buy draft 7:30. It'll be okay. I
haven't bought any new cd's in weeks... (ehr oh wait...
actually i did, haha, forgot about that beach boys-cd... oh
well, nevermind. Just 3 more days until i get my paycheck
;-))

;-)

Yes it is actually, because i really didn't like it at
first. But you were so enthusiastic about it.... i
guess i just wanted to discover what you liked in that song
:-p

But it's funny... i already deleted the rotor+ stuff even
though i did like that at first ;-) But then i
already decided i wanted to buy the cd at some point, so i
didn't really need the mp3's anymore.

But now i think i like this song better than rotor+ :-p

I thought it was excellent idea for a thread in general...

Cheery and Sunshine strains of Herb Albert and Tijuana
Brass's music..especially "Spanish Flea" made for wonderful
torture theme music in Perdita Durango..easily out
creeped the Reservoir Dogs torture scene

yeah, avec exposures one...

but i guess if it took you so long to get into this song it
might take you even longer to get into his other stuff :),
so if you'll listen to it in a record shop and not like it
at first i may still send you those mp3's-just to make sure
you'll spend your money :)
i remember, when i first heard his other record with
simmilar stuff, i was like; whats this, just some
noise...but then you get to hear really nice compositions,
and im loving it now!

"hey surrounded, where do you think i'll go after work?
:D
"

ahhh, going to spend all that money you made posting on this
board, hanging around the internet and generally not doing
much at all? ;-)

But damn... i envy you :-p To live in a town with such
interesting recordstores! maybe i should move to eindhoven
;-)

"is it really any good? i never heard of this jelinek
guy..
"

Well i only know this one song tolstoyed gave me. That i
really like... very minimalistic. But he just said the album
itself is completely different from it :-p So i dunno. You
can always give it a listen :-) The track "music to
interrogate by" is wonderful (but it did take me a couple of
weeks to 'get' it)

ok, this song is least minimalistic of them all :)

"I thought it was excellent idea for a thread in

"

well i you want to take the title literally... there can be
only one choice really :-p

Gwarek2 by aphex twin... hehe, the torture music i'd
say. It would sure scare the hell out of me. I'd be giving
out information before the song was even halfway through
;-)

satanstornade would be a nice option as well...

"it might take you even longer to get into his other

"

yeah i thought of that too :-p Chances are i'll hate it on
first listen. But i really like this song though... i might
buy it anyway, just to have that one on a cd :-)

"i may still send you those mp3's-just to make sure
you'll spend your money :)
"

Thanks buddy, you are a true friend ;-)

I listened to that track "unlock the mysteries of the sun",

computer :-)

Barry Manilow for torture in hell in the YOUNG ONES :)

i meant satanstornade would be a nice music to interrogate
by :)
well it would work on me anyway...

but yeah, sweet music could be even worse-some celine dion
or marriah carrey...

but i think torture-music is something else than
interrogation-music :-)

When you're going to torture someone, i imagine the kind of
music you mention will indeed make it seem more surreal and
therefor horrible.

But if you're interrogating someone, you want them to feel
as uncomfortable as possible...

The person in question sitting on one side of the desk, two
police officers on the other side. A desklamp shining
directly into his face... that's the kind of situation i
pictured ;-)

did you like it instantly?

It sounds like something that would take a loooong time to
get into. But that song i heard literally hurt my ears... so
i don't think i'm going to bother with it :-p A bit too
extreme for me.

indeed it has to grow on you (like many stuff had in my case
(gantz graf etc.))

and that track you mentioned is considered the main
track in most reviews, i do agree with that

just give it some time (or don't bother, i mean you don't
have to like it ey, no need punishing yourself ;) )

i don't play it that often too, just now and then i feel
like it (also all my roommates must be out)

what's beautiful about it, and most jelinek stuff, is that
at the same time as it is kind of minimalist... there is a
lot of subtle variation bubbling under the surface... and
it's so beautiful... anyone who is looking for lush
electronic should check jelinek out...
