the difference between hip hop and rap is.. hip hop is the genre, or culture rather, and 'rap' is the vocal style which is most used in the genre.. of course you can have hip hop without rap, hip hop isnt just limited to music, it encompasses graffiti art and breakdancing as well some people seem to think that they are two separate things..that 'rap' is the commercial version of hip hop or something.. which isnt true.. yes, commercial hip hop usually has rapping, because instrumental hip hop isnt really made for the pop market |

rap means 'talk', i.e. the vocal part of a track. hip-hop means stolen drumloop conjuring a rundown area of new york. or something. |
