what's great in this genre? radiohead got me into music of course, with ok computer, and i love super furry animals (idm heads should hear some things come from nothing). i'm going to pick up that new (bit old now, i guess) flaming lips. outside of radiohead, this is music that can make me smile. so what else is good? |

MBV and slowdive veer pretty far away from pop, not that those aren't amazing bands.. from what i've heard of YLT they don't seem to pass too easily for pop either (and of course i'm not talking about mainstream, just pop style) |

um.... im not EXACTLY sure what it is you are looking for, but heres some suggestions: stars as eyes toroise (particularly "standards", always does it for me) les rhythmes digitales microphones mirah (try "cold, cold water") flaming lips (soft bulletin) cornelius (fantasma or point) jim o'rourke, and by that token, gastr del sol a band of bees vhs or beta schneider tm ohgr sparta just some stuff i've been listening to lately... |

If it may rock a bit, surely check out Sonic youth,Husker du, Sugar, Pixies. And for the less rocking moments maybe Joy division. There are also a lot of singer/songwriters out there worth checking out. |
