anyone seen it? i saw it last night, very good indeed, not quite as good as memento though. al pacino is great in it, not sure if he was method acting but he looked like a wreck towards the end of the film (and at the beginning for that matter)

I,ve only seen the norweigan version and I have no interest in seeing the remake. I like Christopher Nolan as a director, but I just know Pacino and Williams will chew up scenery like they always do. One of the great things about the original are the understated performances.

I thought Insomnia was terrible. I heald it in high anticipation out of respect for the novelty of Momento, but it was a poorly done, poorly conceived derivative film, in my opinion. I literally cringed during some of the more pathetic scenes, most especially near the end where the female rookie cop runs up and procedes to chill out with Pacino, when she has no indication of whether or not the evil badguy is still in effect. Really really lame film. We don't need anymore cop movies with the same "internal affairs is after the good cop who slipped up" plot. Especially from a director who has a lot to offer like C. Nolan.

I liked that you could feel how tired he was.
There was this scene where the camera was zooming in on all the little details in the police station - coffee machines etc. - and you got that feeling like you've been up all night and all day and you're about to start dreaming with your eyes open and just slump forwards onto the floor.
