if a corporation or business or something has the same name as your artist name, how is the issue resolved? for example how did aphex twin and aphex systems resolve their conflict of titles? does richard have to pay royalties? or just do that disclaimer about not having any relation to aphex systems.
anyone know?

He asked there permission to use the name. Provided the artist(s) don't bring what they perceive as negative publicity to there name they are usually OK about it.
That is why yopu can see something this Aphex is used with the kind permission of Aphex systems, printed on his releases.

The matter is usually resolved in a court of law, with the smaller of the two 'parties' loosing....
