That's nothing.

Heh, 8Gig IST links between cores.
Yeah, oh yeah.

But for the distance, nice.
But I still would like to know things such as protocol(if
TCP then MTU sizes? max for TCP?)) how the routers handled
these packets, the number of hops (which im sure WASN'T very
many) and for 1 thing, there isn't much traffic on I2 (for
now) so the router's cpu had it's priorityset on this test.

for the transatlantic cabling, well, heh, you know how that
goes.

I don't think an ISP could provide such service to multpiple
people. I can't even imagine the equipment they would need
to run such a thing. It would prolly be considerably slower
for the public, but still would easily be 1,000 times faster
than regular cable. Gimme Gimme Gimme!

it would be _considerably_ slower for the public, as there
obviously wasn't many hops for this data to transfer
over/through.

fiber is good, hell my longest fiber in my network is only
100ft long
heh
unlike a couple KMs like @ w3rk

cable? was it just there? did it fall out of the sky? i dont
get it. sounds like a pretty expensive experiment..

fiber is only 62.5MICRONs wide (for standard multi-mode
fiber)

50Micron for single-mode (1 wavelength, high distances)
common misconception that fiber is HUGE.

fiber is actually small as FUCK

Web100 is just one of the many proposed ways to solve this
issue; yeah, current MTU's suck.

as much as I understand the desire for faster and faster, I
always thought it would be much easier on the infrustructure
if we just found a way to make files a lot smaller.
