Does anyone know if there is a program out there that can let you use your computers VST Plugins like an effects pedal?
Or in other words a standalone VST Plugin host that works using your audio ins and audio outs in real time?

umm... if i'm not mistaken many vst effects work that way.. all you need is a program that supports vst and recording of audio.. like cubase.. i don't record anything myself, though, so i don't know for sure..

I just need a standalone - non recorder, I'm trying to work with a friend of mine on some vocal processing, and thought it would be a great help if we could use VSTs in realtime to do some of it.

msp also does, not sure if PD (pc counterpart) does as well. You will have to deal with some latency problems though (delay between signal in/out) depending on your setup.

i've never found a program that will allow you to record with VST plug-ins in real time. they are all applied post to already recorded audio. a major, major bummer. hence, i don't use VST plug-ins anymore. if you're looking for good real-time recordable plug-ins try Cycling '74's Pluggo Plug-ins (idk if they're shareware) and the Destroy FX plug-ins (which are). Those two are my absolute staples. Destroy FX's Transverb, Geometer and BufferOverdrive f' your tunes up better than any plug-ins I've ever used. You can sound like Autechre in five minutes.

Thanks Rf - Nice suggestion, not quite what I had in mind, but a very cool intuitive program. - Once again, thanks so much.
And Elusive, your a really cool guy... especially with the sever and all. Very cool. But I agree with dmc's comment. I really don't code much, ao I don't really have the time it would take to do so. Especially since I have projects that I'm working on right now. :) - I make music, not software.
But once again, you guys rock. This board is always a great help! You Rule!

You could also let him kick you in the nuts while singing. How's that for realtime vocal processing?

And to you loeser - Kiss off! That wasn't a necessary comment. Pretty juvenile actually.
