i cant wait to Ico 2, the first one was awesome, probably he
best game for the ps2 so far. I'm also looking forward to
Silent Hill 2, not sure if they should have include
automatic weapons though.

anyone else played Ico?

auto modellista: race game with cell shading. the graphics
are awesome, but they fucked up the physics

what's wrong w/ the physics? that's one of the most
important game elements to me.. I'm tempted to get it though
based on how cool it looks (cel shading being pulled off
well in video games is kindof rare .. I think it looks
somewhat awkward sometimes.. then again I'm basing this on
what I've seen from tv previews etc.)

hah. my friends are all in love with this game. i personally
don't get it. almost no exploration, its like an interactive
movie. what the hell happened to games. i mean, i think ff7
is the greatest rpg ever behind chrono trigger, and that was
relatively linear, but games like xenosaga piss me off. i'll
watch evangelion instead.

offline accela from Detroit (United States) on 2003-03-05 11:58 [#00581896]
Points: 128 Status: Lurker

yes it does piss me off how xenosaga is 80% cut scenes and
20% gameplay, but that is just is how games are these days,
i guess we have to just live with it or don't play the games

offline theo himself from +- on 2003-03-05 12:02 [#00581899]
Points: 3348 Status: Regular

that sucks.. I think FF7 was definately one of the best
games I've ever played,,, and I'm not even an RPG guy at
all.. but that one was amazing.. it even prompted me to buy
the next two.. despite the fact that I never finished 8
..and I never finished 9.. I just didn't care as much.
though FF8 had some fucking AMAAAAZING graphics (like when
you controlled your lead character through a war that was
being fought in the background... it incorperated the kind
of graphics you'd normally only see in cutscenes.. the fact
taht the cut scenes in this one were even minimally
interactive was astonishing to me at the time

or we can buy Shigeru Miyamoto games. zelda, mario, those
are entirely interactive. thats where its at now i'm afraid,
outside of a few flagship titles on ps2 games have gone
downhill. if people could get over graphics and settle for
great gameplay than things might get better, but it seems as
though they can't. evidence of why the xbox sold any units
at all.

My older brother had the original Xenogears.. Despite it
taking the duration of his puberty to complete he said that
it was one of the best games he'd ever played(watched). I
showed him a review of Xenosaga the other day and he said he
was definately going to pick it up.
I also just picked up Skies of Arcadia : Legends a few days
ago for my Gamecube and have been playing nonstop ever
since. While it lacks the technical polish found in most of
Square's heavyweights it more than makes up for it in
childlike charm. I really like the sense of ownership you
get out of managing your own pirate ship/crew/base as well.
Has anyone else played this game(Dreamcast or Gamecube)?

that game is excellent. i had it for dreamcast. i need to
buy a gamecube still, but that and zelda: wind waker are the
first titles i'm picking up.
the original xenogears was good but the second disc nearly
ruins the experience. sitting in a chair and recalling
events is not my idea of good gameplay.

From what I hear, the Gamecube edition has heaps of added
content. Were there bounties and discoveries in the
original version?
Definately buy a Gamecube for Wind Waker if nothing else.
From everything I've read and seen I'll bet it's going to be
Cabbog's new "Favorite Game of All Time". Nintendo knows
exactly what they're doing.

nintendo seems to be the only company left interested in
actually making games and not just interactive movies. the
nice thing is that miyamoto understands that games are
supposed to be a seperate experience from cinema, so he
doesn't use cinematic techniques to get his point across in
things like mario and zelda. i have a ps2 and a dreamcast,
plus a genesis, saturn and snes. i can't remember if there
were bounties or discoveries, although i think there were in
the original skies. i haven't played it in quite some time.
dreamcast was an awesome system for its short lifespan.

legend of zelda is coming out for the GBA soon, might get

plus the lack of good games for the GBA might persuade me to
buy it.

It's great the animation and lighting effects are truely
amazing, not to mention it is crazy how well it controls.

A must buy for any cube owner, I can't wait.

yes. chrono trigger is the best of the snes era of games
though, but that only exists on snes. it would be pretty

I'll be picking up a Gameboy Advance SP as well as the
Gamecube adaptor - I never take the Gameboy anywhere other
than my bed anyway so it will be just like having a Super
Nintendo.
I bought a load of games for my GBA initially.. The only
ones I haven't traded back in are Tactics Ogre : Knight of
Lotus, Metroid Fusion, and Zelda : A Link to the Past. Doom
was a straight port of the crusty old PC version and got
monotonous halfway through the second level; neither of the
Castlevania games hit the spot, especially in comparison to
the PS1 Symphony of the Night; Golden Sun was too flakey and
generic for my taste; and Mario World was good but I hadn't
been away from the original long enough to really enjoy it
like I should. I've never played Mario World 2 but it looks
great - I've also heard Advance Wars is quite a bit of fun..
I'll have to give them both a try.
I haven't heard anything truely ample about Final Fantasy
Crystal Chronicles or Tactics yet, the floodgates will most
likely blow open at this year's E3.

I'm glad that Xenosaga is mostly cut scenes, because the
story is really good. Xenogears's was too.

Too many of the recent RPG's I've played have lacked a great
story.

I basically bought the game for the story alone....might as
well take a book that's much more evolved! :]

watching it. I'd make my brother stop the text so I could
run to the bathroom.. What a nerd I am!

I still think Crono Trigger is the best RPG ever released.
FF7 second, Mario RPG third. Funny, they are all square
games. Also, with the current gen of consoles i bought an
X-box. The PS2 is overpriced and underpowered,
unfortunately, i forsee the Gamecube failing as a platform.

My list goes like this :
1.Gamecube
2.Xbox
3.PS2

I could wax on and on over the sheer brilliance of the
majesty that is Nintendo. Design, style, appeal,
aesthetics, gameplay, yaddayadda and so forth. A Nintendo
game is a labor of love and it shows.
I bought the Xbox for it's potential capabilities. I was
lured into dishing out $200 after reading articles on Deus
Ex 2, Pyschonauts, Star Wars : KOTOR, BC, and Black & White.
So far, with the exception of Halo and Splinter Cell, the
platform's been dishing out nothing but pure shit.. Vexx?
What the fuck. Whoever thought up that idea should have
their balls ripped off with a pair of hot prongs. Not only
is it a horrible game, it's downright insulting...
As for the other, outside of several of Square's games I was
never interested much in the Playstation franchise. I
thought Grand Theft Auto III was really fun for the first
few hours.. After that it lost it's luster. What other big
games does this console have again?
