drukqs sukqs

kickstand on 2001-09-28 05:52 [#00037465]

so i've downloaded a few drukqs sings and i really really
really hope they\'re fake. mainly because they\'re totally
lame. if these are real then richard has made absolutely no
progress. they are undoubtedly richard d. james, but c\'mon
rich, can\'t you be a tad more creative. break some new
ground for shit\'s sake.
what a fucking dissapointment.

I agree at least as far as that 54 cymru beats... and monkey
drummer are concerned.

Gook Meister on 2001-09-28 06:12 [#00037471]

slashes(/) appeared which means you put much into your
statement, you copied and pasted, kickstand, you bitch.

kickstand on 2001-09-28 06:18 [#00037474]

i was wondering about those slashes. they seemed to have
only come up on apostrophes. yeah i guess i did cut and
paste a bit. i suppose it doesn't really matter at the end
of the day; it took me all of a minute to write. and as for
calling me a bitch...i suspect maybe you're just mad because
you've heard drukqs too and you really think it sucks but
you don't want to turn on your precious rdj. you slave.

Gook Meister on 2001-09-28 06:28 [#00037478]

I've only heard Vordhosbn and I like it. You bitch.

Mm...MMmW...((mmMmm))...WmMM...mM on 2001-09-28 06:34 [#00037481]

Keep in mind that "you bitch" is merely two syllable
utterances using the throat lips and a little bit of the
tongue if you want. Don't let a pointless sound with agreed
meaning to be a unit of offence basically to bother you at
all, you bitch.

not groundbreaking?

could one of you "its not groundbreaking!" people please
post three examples of richard being groundbreaking. i was
under the impression he just made music! My mistake

marm on 2001-09-28 08:59 [#00037490]

I must say I've not been too impressed with what I've heard
so far of drukqs. It's all very well done and technically
interesting, but... dare I say it... lacking in
imagination? It all sounds a little too same-y, a bit too
formulaic. I don't know, maybe it's just me, but it seems
the little touches of creative genius have gone. Here's
hoping that it's just a blip, or that I will be proved wrong
when I get the whole album...

Don't listen to it then, and stop fukkin' moaning!

Jesus!

Have fun.

A real fan from seattle on 2001-09-28 09:28 [#00037495]

You people are all just stupid. When you listen to rdj,
you've gotta expect rdj. The druqks tracks sound just how I
would expect and I love them. Especially avril 14th.

balthus from europe on 2001-09-28 09:40 [#00037497]

i downloaded the excerpts from drukqs... especially 14 avril
and nanou2 are very beautiful, tranquil, more classical.
they are coontinuing the direction aphex took with flim, and
nannou. i very much like the use of the piano and prepared
piano. i can't await to have the album. it seems as if
drukqs does not stoop to fashions, and that's great.

Sound Assassin from Patent Office UK on 2001-09-28 10:33 [#00037501]

Finally, some people who still appreciate what RDJ can
achieve!

Have fun.

i guess that not only the critique, but also the title of
this comment, - drukqs sukqs - is questionable. the title
drukqs does not really (or only) mean 'drugs' (only at first
it seems like that it means 'drugs'), it does also not mean
'drug use' but 'druk use'. So the title has actually nothing
to do with drugs but with making the 'use' of pressing the
buttons - 'druk' or 'drukken' or 'drücken' means in dutch
and german 'to press' or 'to pull'. so it does mean pressing
the buttons on the laptop or pressing the keys on the piano.
(maybe it has also something to do with rdj's statement that
it's better not to take drugs when making music (or making
art in general) or that making his music is like taking
drugs.)

so the title of this comment would mean the use of pressing
the buttons/keys- the use of sugar (süss/zucker in german).
so the title of this comment is that drukqs and pulling the
buttons is sweet as sugar, and a very precious thing.

ROFL - no imagination????

No 2 tracks sound the same!

listen to it as a whole record instead of skipping the track
after 10 seconds

All i have to say is, whoever knocks richard or any of his
material should be shot! peace!

Vordhosbn is one of the greatest songs rdj ever
did.......!!!

The album is fuckn perfect, no doubt!!!
You just have to get used to it, that's all!!

Gonzola from stockholm on 2001-09-28 17:44 [#00037580]

yeah, it takes some listening to get into some of the trax,
i'm getting used to that tho, it's like it was with
confield.
now i love drukqs and i really appreciate that the songs are
so different to each other, it creates a wierd underlying
atmosphere that is really cool..
.PEACE

The tracks from drukqs.net are the only ones I have heard
yet, but they alone are worth buying the album when it comes
out. I like the more melodic side of RDJ and I know I will
like the rest of druqks, or I could just find the smallest
detail to criticize and not let go.

GreenEmber from happyland on 2001-09-28 20:03 [#00037618]

"drukqs" pardon me.

Barrett, Syd from T Dot on 2001-09-28 20:07 [#00037621]

I like it.

Granite D. Poolridge on 2001-09-28 20:17 [#00037623]

The piano pieces are very, very similar in style to some of
Eno's ambient music. Hell, MY piano music sounds a lot like
Eno.

And I realized something. It's ok if it sounds like Eno,
coz' its got it's own personality, and is entertaining to
listen to.

Do I think it's ground breaking? Maybe, in the sense that
most of his fans aren't going to expect the album to sound
like this. (Yes, most of his fans still haven't heard the
album). The contrast of the tracks from mellow
piano/harpsichord pieces interlaced with acid tracks will
also be keen.

In the end, who gives a shit? He could release a CD full of
static repeating "Oh when the saints go marching" and it
still wouldn't matter. We have too many critics in the
world... just let music be...

balthus from europe on 2001-09-28 20:28 [#00037627]

strange, i thought of erik satie (eno's teacher was gavin
bryars who also is a scholar on satie, no coincidence, i
guess), john cage and peter maxwell davies while listening
to the pieces. are there also harpsichord pieces or do you
mean the pieces for prepared piano?

My mum likes it.
